True Dialogue Is in Dire Need

True Dialogue Is in Dire Need

A symphony of words in harmony,

Together with silence between the words

Is needed to be understood and understand

The reflections, hopes, aspirations, prayers

Of the other, who is not another.

The art of active listening requires silence

Between sentences before preparing more to say.

To listen to the vocabulary of thought,

Dictionary of terms, gallery of portraits.

It is then that the background music of each,

To  life, resonates and can be shared,

Giving time for prepared thought and response.

Otherwise, empty words are exchanged.

Fear, anxiety, anguish, sadness,

Depression, despair, anger, frustration,

Irritation, resentment, envy, pride

As well as celebration are rarely

Conveyed, nor is exchange meaningful,

For true dialogue to give purpose to life,

For no one to feel alone and misunderstood,

Or, not heard, for the validation of each.

It is when we learn to see within,

We find a voice with no paralysis

Of self doubt, to recognize, acknowledge

And understand the life essence of each.
