Trump comes to China with huge leverage — the blockade
The combination of Iran closing the strait, and the US subsequently blockading Iran, is having a devastating effect on most economies.
Even China (despite its vast amount of stored oil that can last for six months) is not immune to this, especially if the impasse continues for a very long time.
According to analysts, a lengthy closure and blockade can have severe negative effects on China’s economy. It forces China to buy oil at much higher prices; affects the supply chain (which brings raw materials and other goods to China); and (because the closure is impacting European industries) it cuts down on China’s vast exports to Europe.
So when Trump comes this week to talk to Xi, he’s coming with a lot more leverage than he had before the Iran war.
Xi is probably very motivated now to make a trade deal with the US. He needs all the economic help he can get.
He might even be more inclined to avoid attacking Taiwan, so as not to antagonize Trump who could 1) continue the blockade for a long time and 2) threaten to impose trade barriers on a-now-vulnerable China.
Thus the Iran war is weakening not only Iran, but also a major global adversary — China.
For years China stole US secrets. For years China manoeuvred itself into foreign countries, lending vast sums of money, and when that country couldn’t pay back the loan, China took over infrastructure. For years China has ruthlessly threatened world peace, stability, and wellbeing. And now, suddenly, the tables have turned.
Trump’s efforts to stop Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon (which would be a danger to Israel and the world), led to Iran closing the strait and a US blockade, which is now threatening China’s economy.
It’s fascinating. By Divine providence, the blockade is giving the US much clout, perhaps even more than US warships in the South China Sea.
All this bodes well for a peaceful world. Nations can thank Israel for leading the way, speaking for years about the danger of Iran, fighting Iran’s proxies, and finally, with US participation, eliminating much of Iran’s leadership, knowhow, and military capability.
Resulting in pressure on China.
The world is changing quickly and beneficially. The new way to fight is economically, with blockades and the like. There is less bloodshed, powerful clout, and likely excellent results.
It’s a new world. Redemption with Moshiach — a time when peace and prosperity permeates the entire globe — seems close at hand.
May it happen now.
