About one hundred years ago, 50,000 (some say 100,000) Jews were murdered in Ukranian pogroms.

Later, during World War Two, many Ukrainians eagerly collaborated with the Nazis to murder Jews. About one and a half million Ukranian Jews were murdered.

During the last nine years, neo-Nazi militias have gained much popularity and legitimacy in Ukraine. This was at first widely reported in mainstream Western media. But after Russia invaded Ukraine over a year ago, and Western powers decided to support Ukraine, the media generally downplayed or dismissed reports of Ukranian Nazism.

The Torah assures us that G-d avenges spilled Jewish blood: “Nations sing the praise of His people, for He will avenge the blood of His servants, and bring retribution upon His foes, and appease His land, and His people .” (Deuteronomy 32; 43)

In the Torah, G-d tells us to listen to Him and obey His commandments, in order to open channels to receive His blessings. Doing so hastens fulfillment of the promise of Redemption, when those who passed away will rise, and the eternal Jewish nation will return to their land with Moshiach, united with G-d forever.
