We can only move forward
My soul is shining. I feel it and I am grateful when like minded, spiritual beings see it. I also love when people feel the energy and it gives them a dose of happiness of someone being present with them. Fully present, do you understand this? On one hand, we have to make an effort to be fully present within ourselves. Then, when we are energy exchanging with others, we are not formulating our own thoughts, giving advice, or thinking from our own perspective. We are just letting the person be, holding space, and flowing with the conversation in the moment. I am blessed with a few gifts, one is being fully present and bringing others present, and the other is to see miracles as they unfold in every moment. I am going to take you through last week, and give you a glimpse into my brain and soul. Last Shabbat was the birthday of my firstborn, he was born on Shabbat on the thirteenth of Elul, and this Saturday is his solar birthday, which is also the thirteenth, of September. He got an Aliyah to the Torah last week, and it has been a full week of celebration. Why not celebrate from one to the other?
- Sunday: We were getting my husband’s Tefilin checked and fixed, and my youngest son’s new Tefilin adjusted that he got in Jerusalem at a small sofer workshop. Since his Bar Mitzvah right before Pesach, he grew so much and it was tight on his head. We met a Rabbi there that was from Brazil, and knew the new wife of a good friend from Los Angeles, that just got married in Brazil. It really is a small world, and he suggested for us to change all the parchments, and I felt so grateful.
- Monday: A friend in Jerusalem gave me some good advice. It is better to run one major errand per day, because it will take time to get there, do it and get back. Especially for someone like me that always gets turned around, and since Jerusalem is one big circle, everything intertwines, and Thank God I get myself back on track. As someone who always has a positive view, I look at it as exercise. We had plans to go to the Western Wall, we are walking distance, but it is also easy to take the light rail or bus. I wish I could go more often, when I am there, I feel so connected and feel the energy all around me.
- Tuesday: Last week I went to an event by www.gilasway.com, it is an organization that focuses on suicide prevention, support and education. I feel Hashem brought me to Israel for something big. My teenage kids are independent, and I feel when something organically ends. My Yoga and Doula work were an amazing journey for 25 years, but now I want to love our soldiers, our heroes so they can live healthy, happy and productive lives after their service. Although I am not a medical professional, mental health has been a big part of the work I do. I have always preferred to be on the energy side, while working along side with all modalities and professionals. Dr. Asher Siegelman was on the panel, he is a Suicidologist, and his focus is on therapies that are not medical. I had scheduled a phone call with the director of Gila’s way, Rabbi Shalom Hammer, and for some reason my mind blanked and I missed it. I have a lot on my plate right now, and he was so kind and understanding, and we agreed to talk the next day.
- Wednesday: Now that my kids are in school, I have time to enjoy Torah classes. There was a special women’s class in honor of Chai Elul, which are the birthday’s of the Baal Shem Tov, the father of Chassidut and the Alter Rebbe who wrote the Tanya and was the first Rabbi of Chabad. There was a beautiful brunch, and a friend of mine, Devorah Kravitz was playing Niggunim on her flute. She explained the meaning of each one, and we hummed and sang along. Remember that call I had with Rabbi Hammer from Gila’s Way? I blanked again because I was so caught up in the learning and music, and I met a wonderful new friend that told me about a Torah dance class that started in an hour! For those of you that do not know, I am a performance artist, dancer and even an exhibitionist in the right space and time. Rabbi Hammer was delighted that I was distracted by Torah and dance, and I was so grateful that he understood my soul getting nourished, so we schedule a call for Thursday afternoon. I told him that I would set an alarm, and I did.
- Thursday: The directions on my phone were very different than where the bus was taking me. Luckily, I got off and decided to take the twenty minute walk to my appointment. I walked through a very holy area of Rabbis, students and Yeshivot. One Rabbi stopped me and gave me two half shekel coins. He said one was to give Tzedaka today and the other was to give right before lighting Shabbat candles on Friday night. I was so in awe that I was the only woman in the streets, he was so kind and in many places people are asking for charity, but he saw my soul shining and shared his own light. Baruch Hashem, when I got home, I had a tremendous phone call with Rabbi Hammer, and if anyone in Los Angeles or anybody else in the world has connections for them to speak about their organization, please get in touch with me.
- Friday: I have been helping a new friend promote her brand new, clean and gorgeous spa in Rehavia, instagram.com/clwellness.spa. Manicures, massages and body scrubs as well as wellness coaching. When I saw her this morning to pick up flyers, and told her about the Kaballa class at Bagel Cafe with coffee and pastry included, she decided to join me. She told everyone she has not been to a Torah class in a long time, Rabbi Goldberg of Chabad of Rehavia said that we can only move forward. Rosh Hashana is around the corner, face yourself, love yourself and decide to move forward.
