What once was, and is no longer
Israel used to be apologetic, bending over backwards, feeling guilty for defending themselves and defeating aggressors.
But no more. Now Israel is showing that they are ready to eradicate evil.
Used to be, that Israel offered to give away land. No more. Not after October 7.
Used to be, that antisemites got away with antisemitism, disguising it as something else. No longer. Authorities are now increasingly stopping it.
Used to be, that woke was a thing. Also cancel culture. Also dystopian anti-G-d movements. Then Trump came along, and woke is becoming a fleeting memory of dysfunctional lunacy.
Used to be, that the Ukraine war seemed unstoppable, countries stuck in a deadly pit of destruction, unable to climb out, unable to see past preconceived notions, unable to ponder possible ways to attain peace. Then along came Trump, who recognized how G-d saved him, miraculously, from a would-be assassin’s bullets. Trump, who reportedly felt that G-d saved him in order to save the world. Along came Trump, and peace with Russia has suddenly become doable.
Things aren’t the way they used to be. So many things have changed. Suddenly, the world has reason for optimism.
Suddenly, the possibility of the imminent Redemption with Moshiach seems so doable.
Suddenly, humanity can feel that happiness and world peace is so close.
A new world awaits. A world of people getting along, and everyone serving G-d “with one shoulder.” (Zephaniah 3; 9)
Suddenly, the world is beginning to smile. As we await a future of wondrous splendour.
May it happen very soon.
