When Shall We Win Jerusalem
When shall we win Jerusalem
declaring a living G-d
took us to Himself
there in the broken stone, the reconstituted stone
saying, “Stand and watch My salvation”?
Who shall declare holy war
since that First Light until this seemingly-forsaken age
the sepulcher people know
the electroplated dome declares, falsely
Who else but us?
Modernity is a forgetting
The strident cry “our G-d, not yours!” usurps Jerusalem.
When then the reclamation
the re-taking of the fortress,
the cornerstone rejected, the most beloved restored?
How could they have missed the fig tree blossoms
the ripening clusters on south-facing slopes
The Paschal lamb of our sovereignty?
