Who are the useful idiots?

In the aftermath of the horrific carnage in Israel, the world came face to face with the barbarity of the Hamas murderers and witnessed their zeal to butcher innocent Israelis. No one was spared by these “freedom fighters”. They killed indiscriminately everyone who happened into their path sparing no one, not senior citizens or newborn babies. Did they perhaps think they would scare the Israelis into packing up and leaving their ancient land? They got exactly the opposite reaction. All Israelis, all Jews the world over, and all decent people who abhor wanton murder were appalled. Many for the first time, realized, just what and who Hamas was. The sheer savagery by the Hamas butchers makes even a Nazi pale by comparison.

As a child of Holocaust survivors, I felt frustrated when I heard the news. Again? I thought such murders were in the past. Israel has promised us that with the might of the Israeli Army, we would all be protected. We felt secure and safe in that knowledge. But it seems that the might of the IDF was being held in check by “realpolitics”.

Our history is replete with stories of the massacre of Jews. How eloquent was Chayim Nachman Bialik when he described the Kishinev pogrom in 1903 Russia. We thought that the recent Nazi attempt at our genocide brought such efforts to an end. But now Hamas terrorists are vying to surpass even the Nazis in their brutality.

The comparison between Nazis and Palestinian Hamas is wholly accurate. Not only by the sheer brutality shown by Hamas. Actually, there is ample historical connection between Adolf Hitler and Haj Amin El Husseini the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, the instigator of anti-Jewish riots in Palestine. Amin el-Husseini, spent the Second World War in Berlin as a guest of Hitler. He plotted the destruction of over half a million Jews residing in Palestine. He saw the Nazi murder of the Jews firsthand. He learned from Hitler. They shared the desire to exterminate Jews. El Husseini is the father of Palestinian nationalism. Many learned Jew hatred from him as well.

But let’s face it: the real shocker came after the murders when we saw many of the ‘brightest’ students from our elite universities marching and applauding the murder of innocent Jews. How could these allegedly smart students have gotten it so wrong? One only had to see the response by their professors and university presidents for the answer. In many cases they marched in lockstep with the students and at best they condemned the demonstrations only days later and only after much pressure was brought to bear.

No wonder these students don’t know the facts. Who will teach them? No wonder they can’t show compassion. Who has shown them?

Unfortunately, our universities have been hijacked by the Iran/Hamas propaganda machine as dictated by the Jew-hating Boycott, Divest, and Sanction movement. I never fail to be astounded by the colossal stupidity and ignorance of the Jewish students who support such movements.

For the purpose of educating these students, let’s review some historical facts.

“Palestine”- No such entity ever existed! My dear ignorant and lazy students, do a bit of research: Where was this entity in history? When did it exist? Where? You want to give back the land of the Jews to a state that never was? To a people who never owned it? Who never even existed?

“Free Palestine” Free from whom? Israel does not control Gaza. Hamas does. They are the murderers who hide behind the very people they claim to fight for. They terrorize not only Israel but their own people as well. Yes, Israel wants to free Gaza from the Hamas terror. Did Hamas ever actually attempt to improve the lives of the Palestinians living under their control?

But let’s face it: being a Hamas terrorist beats having a job. And it’s much more exciting than going to school and building a country.

Look at history. While the Arabs in Palestine, instigated by Amin El Husseini, were fomenting revolution against the British, the Jews were developing an infrastructure that became the State of Israel. What did the Arabs do? Nothing. Where are they today after 75 years? Nowhere!

One can understand why they are frustrated when they see the modern and beautiful Israeli cities. The prosperous “tech Israel”. Can’t we understand their frustration? It’s easier to blame Israel, but the fault is closer to home!

 Abba Eban put it so correctly when he said:

“The Arabs never miss an opportunity – to miss an opportunity!”

The pro-Hamas students in our campuses are simply lazy. They march for Palestine but have no clue to the history of this conflict. It is easier to accept the Hamas propaganda than to do research. Reading history is time-consuming.

But the left-leaning, progressive students who glorify the murder of Jews have been duped. Their professors in Harvard, NYU and elsewhere should be embarrassed.

“Higher education”? High school kids can do better. Their laziness has turned them into ‘useful idiots’ and enablers of the terrorists.

President Biden traveled to Israel on Wednesday. Why did he go there? To show solidarity? Perhaps to bolster his sagging approval numbers as we head to the next election? News reports have already surfaced that he went to slow down the Israeli response against the murdering Hamas terrorists. Pressure is being applied on Israel (and its damaged prime minister) not to invade Gaza and not to pre-empt the Hezbollah war machine. If Biden truly supported Israel (and America), he would enforce the sanctions against Iran and choke off hundreds of billions from the sale of Oil. No money for Iran means no money for Hamas and Hezbollah. No money for atomic bomb development.

Biden seems to be petrified about connecting Iran to Hamas terrorism. His weakness enabled the Iranian aggression. Why is he so afraid? Is he perhaps also a useful idiot?

For many years, Democrats in Congress have been shifting further away from supporting America’s only democratic ally in the Middle East, Israel. Democrats such as Rashida Tlaib, and her “squad members” seize every opportunity to denigrate Israel. They attempt to exert pressure on fellow Democrats to abandon Israel. They don’t seem to like America any better.

Many American Jews support the Democratic Party. Can someone explain to me why? Are they perhaps the parents of the useful idiots in the universities? The Democrats have been increasingly turning against Jewish interests. But they forget that this is not the Democratic Party of their grandparents. The Roosvelt Democrats. And we all know how much President Roosevelt did for the Jews!

The frenzied effort by Iran and its proxies to stop Israel only shows that they realize that Israel finally had enough. Mr. Biden, stop making empty speeches and let Israel defend herself. By the way, Israel, the most humane army in the world, does not need you to remind them to behave humanely. Perhaps you should direct your speeches toward the Hamas murderers.

In 1961, after Israel captured Eichman, it was important for Israeli society to see the Jews punish the murderer. Not the goyim. Ben Gurion understood that. In the story of Purim, Queen Eszter asked King Ahasuerus to “let the Jews have their day” with their enemies. Not much has changed in the past few thousand years. It’s time to let the Jews have their day with Hamas. Stop holding them back.

As Jews we are optimists. But as the children of Holocaust survivors, less so.
