Who Is The Premier?

I arrived in New York three weeks ago to teach the spring semester at Columbia University. I hope to be able to send blogs from here in the near future, about the current situation in at least one American University.

I would however, like to make one comment about what is happening in Israel right now.

I, as most of Israel watched the return of our hostages on Shabbat. And was also shocked by their appearance, which reminded all of us of Auschwitz and all the other camps of a time that most of us thought would never return, now that we have our own State and our own Army. But it has happened!

Today, President Trump made his statement about all hell breaking loose if the hostages are not returned by Shabbat at 12 PM. And I thought to myself, “Is this what we in Israel want?”-Will this bring back the rest of our living hostages-alive?”

Is this our goal, or the goal of an American President who has decided that he will decide what is best for everyone, everywhere!

Where is our Premier? Has he no say on our future anymore or is he so busy polishing Trump’s apple that he has forgotten our goal of bringing back the remaining living hostages-alive!

And someone must remind our Premier that there was a President named Truman who recognized Israel in 1948-setting an example for the rest of the world, and another President, named Nixon, who with all his many faults, supplied us with the necessary weapons to fight the Yom Kippur War and another President named Clinton who looked up to our Premier -Yitzhak Rabin, as a father figure and real friend. Trump is not the best friend we have had as the President of the United States. It is time that our Premier started worrying about our people and what is important for us!
