Why Does Hashem Want You to Feel Calm and Secure?
Bitachon not only improves your life,
but it is also a mitzvah (connection to HaShem).
The benefits of Bitachon (reliance on HaShem) are within your reach.
With a little effort you can live a life of true Bitachon,
feeling secure with HaKodesh Boruch Hu.
Why does HaKodesh Boruch Hu care if you feel calm and secure?
Of course, He cares if you do mitzvos (commandments) and
He cares if you do aveiros (sins, G-d forbid!).
But why is HaShem concerned that you feel calm and secure?
The Jewish Classic on Bitachon (Chovos Halevovos) explains:
When you are nervous, it affects your Avodas Hashem (service of G-d).
You do not think rationally and cannot serve HaShem properly.
Your Avodah becomes affected by
what you are nervous about.
You start to focus on your worries and fears
and not on serving HaShem.
You worry about:
Maybe, You will lose a deal.
Maybe, You will lose a shidduch (marriage partner).
Maybe this is bad for my health.
Your worries become endless and start to dominate all of your thoughts.
You feel fear!
So what is the reason your
Menuchas Hanefesh (calmness of soul) is
so important to HaShem?
Picture your child.
You expect him to feel calm and secure in your home.
As a parent, your basic obligation
is creating a sense of security for your children.
Your home should feel like the safest place in the world.
If your child comes home and does not feel secure
you feel deeply troubled
and ask yourself why your child does not feel secure.
Hakodesh Boruch Hu is your parent.
“The world is full of His glory.” (Kedushah Prayer)
The world is Hakodesh Boruch Hu’s home.
The world looks scary.
It looks intimidating.
However, you must know HaShem has His finger
on the pulse of everything that happens in this world.
HaShem is in complete control.
However, if you are nervous,
you feel HaShem is not in control.
Maybe He doesn’t have your best interests in mind?
or
Maybe you think your aveiros (sins) may affect your relationship with Him?
But, you must understand
HaKodesh Boruch Hu loves you
like you love your own child!
