Why I’m Not Worried About Mamdani And His Buddies

It’s understandable to be concerned about the Islamic Democratic Socialists of America and their recent electoral successes. These are politicians with two platforms: tyrannical collective socialism that would make Stalin proud, and hating Jews.

But, ironically, it is the Soviet Union and its history that deflates my concern for the rise of the Mamdani-esq politician.

Have you ever heard of Grigory Zinoviev? What about Nikolai Bukharin? Does the name Lev Kamenev ring any bells?

In fact, let’s move further abroad than the Soviet Union. Have you ever heard of Ernst Rohm, Noureddin Kianouri, or Buenaventura Durruti?

In fact, let’s move further back into the depths of history. Are you familiar with the name Jacques Pierre Brissot?

No?

I don’t blame you. These were the purged revolutionaries; the failed alliances. And make no mistake, alliances of extremists always fail, because extremism is just as incompatible with other extremism as it is with moderation and stability.

A quick perusal of the beginnings of the Russian Revolution will yield exactly zero mentions of one Josef Stalin (or his actual name, which I won’t even attempt to spell). The great revolutionaries who led alongside Lenin are now completely buried in history because they were purged, all of them, by their more extremist compatriots. And these gentlemen that I mentioned earlier were part of the Bolsheviks, who had already turned on and purged their more moderate revolutionary allies, the Mensheviks, in 1922 during Lenin’s Red Terror.

Ernst Rohm, along with the other Alter Kämpfer’s, such as Christian Weber and Gregor Strasser, were the men who hold the incredibly dubious honor of founding the Nazi Party. They, and all the other “old fighters” of Nazism, were murdered in 1934 by Adolf Hitler, another historical figure who had very little role in the founding of his political party.

Noureddin Kianouri was the leader of the Iranian People’s Communist Party before the revolution. He was exiled by the Shah, and upon his return, the Iranian Communists were instrumental in rallying public support from the lower classes for the revolutionary alliance of the Communists and the Islamists against the Shah’s regime. If you are curious about how that ended up for the communists, I pose you one simple question: Have you ever met or heard of any Iranian Communists? Buenaventura Durruti was the leader of Spain’s Anarchists during the Spanish Civil War. He allied with the Communists and the Republicans in fighting Fransisco Franco’s fascistic military coup. This alliance shone brightest in March of 1939, when, just as Franco’s armies were preparing to besiege the anti-fascist stronghold of Barcelona, the communists went on a campaign of brutality and slaughter against their allies, the Republicans and the Anarchists. The alliance collapsed, and with it any hope of resisting Franco’s authoritarianism.

Perhaps I belabor the point, but just a cursory glance through a wikipedia article about the French revolution will tell you all about Jacques Pierre Brissot’s Girondins, and how Robespierre honored their revolutionary alliance during the Reign of Terror.

Extremist alliances always turn on one another, one faction always comes out on top and exterminates their former allies turned rivals. At the moment, American extremists on both the left and right, and within the left and right, are allied. These bizarre alliances are what unites Radical Islamists with Black Supremascists, and Communists with Radical LGBTQ movements. How could Mamdani ally with the Gay Block, who are to be put to death according to the tenants of Islam? How could Radical Feminists support Hamas, who believe that women are nothing more than property to produce offspring for the men? The answer is that they’re allied against a common enemy: stability and moderation. The popularity of extremism wanes in the face of happiness and prosperity. You can’t have extremists when everyone gets along and works to overcome their differences. If Israel goes away tomorrow, what will happen to Hamas and their fighters?

If, God forbid, the worst comes to worst, and these extremists do take power and implement their tyranny, eventually there will be no more external enemies to fight, and they will fall upon each other with their swords and their knives. They will exterminate each other until only one extremism survives. That extremism will seize power, and will eventually be brought down just as every extremism is eventually brought down: extremism isn’t good for stability, and without stability there will be no growth.

And us? The Jews of America, who worked so hard for the stability and prosperity of this great country?

We’ll be in Israel, trying to create a stable and moderate democracy there, long after the Extremists have collapsed into the dustbin of history, where they all eventually end up.
