Why is UN Res. 2334 Evil? Biblical Jerusalem/Zion…is Palestine — Thank you President Obama

Why is the December 23, 2016 UN Res. 2334 Evil? … Because we saw it before.

On November 10, 1975 the UN adopted General Assembly Resolution 3379 which declared Zionism as Racism. The resolution stood for 16 years as a hate education tool against Israel and Jews everywhere in the world.

Although US pressure forced the UN “Zionism = Racism” resolution to be rescinded in 1991, the international canard gained prominence again as a center-piece of the 2001 International Conference against Racism, known as the Durban Conference.

“Yet the noble goals of the 2001 UN World Conference Against Racism were undermined by hateful anti-Jewish rhetoric and anti-Israel political agendas, prompting both Israel and the United States to withdraw their delegations from the conference.”
— Elihai Braun, Jewish Virtual Library.

International Jewish human rights activists attending the Conference came to Durban to join the fight against racism. They were viscously confronted, and feared for their personal safety, as it was open season for attacks against Israel, as well as for anyone who would support Israel.

Why is the December 23, 2016 UN Resolution 2334 so disturbing? With similar legalistic language, supposedly for lofty goals of creating peace between the Arab Palestinians and Jewish Israelis, it focuses only on naming Israel for supposed “illegal actions.” My sense is that the true purpose of the document is to promote Jerusalem as Arab Palestinian territory, under a UN self-declared “international law.”

While the 1975 UN Declaration taught hate equating Zionism with Racism, the December 2016 UN Resolution defines Zion – a biblical name for Jerusalem, as Palestinian territory. Thus, per the UN international decision, which was only allowed and enabled by President Obama, Biblical Jerusalem – Zion … is Palestine.

In deconstructing UN Res. 2334, there are 13 action items. Israel is named specifically and repeatedly for condemnation and nowhere is the Palestinian Authority, or the Palestinians, similarly named for any misdeeds. This glaring lack of any balance to the resolution dictates a specific agenda to be accomplished.

Further, the UN resolution raises a false “moral equivalency” in both the responsibility for acts of terrorism, and separately, for acts of incitement. It calls “upon both parties to … refrain from …  incitement and inflammatory rhetoric” and further callsfor immediate steps to prevent all acts of violence against civilians, including acts of terror.”

By calling upon “both” parties, it makes equal the acts of terror, and legitimate acts of defense and response to terror. If further provides a false “cover” which we have heard from the US administration in defense of its actions, by falsely claiming that the resolution deals equally with both sides of the conflict.

In a naked failure of holding Palestinians accountable for their hate education against Jews and Israel, for Palestinian glorification and rewarding of martyrdom murders, and for their outright incitement of terrorism, UN Resolution 2334 enables and motivates for more terrorism, evidenced by the Sunday, January 9, 2017 truck ramming homicide of Israeli 20 year-olds.

Why do I fear the actions of December 23, 2016, and relate it to the “Zionism equals Racism” UN Resolution of 1975?

At the time of the previous infamous UN resolution, in the mid-70’s I began my Jewish community and Israel activism as Hillel Student President at Ohio State University. To understand the rhetoric of the Palestinian groups, pre-cursors to today’s SJP – Students for “Justice” in Palestine, I would attend their lectures and programs. Astoundingly, I sat in on a movie glorifying the “Palestinian Brigade’s” heroic contribution to World War One and World War Two. Of course, literally they were correct in showing the awesome heroism of the Palestinians.

As is the case of the UN Resolution 2334, they maliciously and purposefully hid the facts. What they failed to convey was that before the founding of the PLO in 1964, it was the common understanding that when one referred to Palestinians, one was ONLY referring to Jews. The Palestinian Brigade was the Palestinian JEWISH Brigade!

Opposite of the lofty goal of promoting “Peace,” UN Res. 2334, is promoting a lie that Jerusalem, and by extension all of Israel, belongs to Palestinian Arabs. As a direct “action through abstention” of President Obama, the resolution empowers intransigence towards Peace, and more immediately, it rewards the terrorism that the world is experiencing, by not holding the one party engaging in support for terrorism responsible and accountable for its actions.

To my mind, President Obama brought upon himself a terrible legacy. Rather than seeking “truth” President Obama’s orchestration of the UN resolution makes him responsible for projecting a malicious lie, creating a new “reality” of international propaganda, by stripping Jerusalem of its Jewish character. This enables another long-time transparent goal of the Palestinian Authority.

Just as UN Res. 3379 falsely linked Israel to the evil of Racism, President Obama has given Abbas what he has openly sought, no less as he stated on the pages of the New York Times on May 16, 2011. Abbas does not want to come to terms of Peace with Israel, but to replace Israel … through the international arena, and specifically with the weapon of the International Court.

In his call for the “Blood of Martyrs” during Rosh Hashanah in 2015, Abbas made clear that he does not want the “filthy feet” of Jews in the Holy sites of Jerusalem. His goal is to use the international community to isolate, weaken and delegitimize Israel. And now he has received a “lay-up” assist from President Obama, perhaps allowing for a weekend international conference in Paris, Sunday January 15, 2017, to finish the job.
