Why Mamdani Is Anti-Semitic and Anti-West

The pending election of Mamdani is bad news not only for New York and for its Jews, but for all Americans, and for the world.

This is disguised by the dishonesty of the mainstream media’s way of identifying Mamdani. They falsely call him a “democratic socialist”, writing that out with a small d and small s – as if his party label-words meant the same thing as the same words would mean in proper English.

They don’t mean the same thing. They mean very nearly the opposite.

Mamdani is a member of a radical anti-Western organization – a Movement-organization that regards the Western democratic system as a “capitalist” system, not a real democracy. It calls itself the “Democratic Socialists of America” or “DSA”, but that is also deceptive language.

DSA was formed by the militant leftist minority that split off from the old Socialist Party in the 1970s. They were against becoming honestly democratic like the majority of the old Socialist Party. That majority had just renamed itself the “Social Democrats USA” or “SDUSA”, to show that they were of the same species as the Social Democratic parties of Europe, who worked within the system as reformers, not radicals who wanted to “smash the system” like the New Leftists were saying at the time. The SDUSAers were strongly against the anti-Western, anti-democratic brands of socialism of both the old Communists and the New Leftists.

The DSA crowd wasn’t so much against the anti-democratic brands of socialism. They didn’t just split from that democratic SDUSA majority of the old socialists. They proceeded to go still farther left. Soon they merged with an offshoot of the New Left.

That is why the DSA sports today such characters as Bernie Sanders, AOC, and Mamdani. Characters who are always cropping up on the side of the enemies of the West in the global struggles for power – the Communists, the Islamists, the Israel-haters, the America-haters, and nowadays the anti-Semites as well.

This history tells us the real identity of DSA. It explains why it supplies the political leaders today for the anti-Western Left here in America.

Why don’t the mainstream media ever mention this history? Why don’t they warn our society of this rather ugly pedigree of the cutting edge radicals they love to highlight?

Evidently they partake too much in this pedigree themselves. They too are largely the heirs, across several generations, of the 1960s Movement – the Movement of the New Left, from which the cutting-edge college movements of the subsequent generations have taken their cues. The New Left, it is worth recalling, had talked of the need to “make the revolution” more radically than the old Communists had. It had consistently supported the most radical Communist regimes fighting against the West – Mao and the Cultural Revolution, Castro, Ho, even Pol Pot – but had stood apart from the old Soviets, because the Soviets had grown too stodgy and conservative. And it was true that the Soviets had settled down by the 1960s; they were no longer into making any additional crazy experiments on their country and killing more millions of their own people. Better the Communist regimes that were still butchering their own people en masse, and were still threatening to drag the world down into a third world war.

Why isn’t this evil pedigree of DSA reported about in at least the conservative minority media, such as Fox and Newsmax? Probably because they don’t know it. But at least they instinctively get the DSA right. They don’t obfuscate about the anti-democratism and the anti-Westernism that is so prominent in the DSA crowd. They do not try to disguise the anti-Americanism and the hatred of Israel that follows inevitably from that anti-Western orientation. Nor do they lie about the anti-Semitism that predominates in the anti-Israel crowd. They sometimes even notice the affinity of the DSAers for the enemies of the West, from Communism to Islamism. And they, unlike the dominant media, have the honest journalistic instinct to report it when they see it.

The conservative media don’t mention that Mamdani claims to be a Muslim: that would get them accused of bigotry. But in fact his Muslim identification is relevant, because Mamdani is a “Political Muslim” or Islamist: a type that wears its Islam as a badge of enmity to the West.

He is not just one young radical who might easily change his mind. He is a member of an organization with a deeply ingrained anti-American ideology. And it is an ideology filled with vicious circles to entrap the mind and close off the pathways to escape.

We face an extremist of this stripe being elected mayor of New York City.

It bodes ill for the people of New York.

It bodes ill for America. Its leading city will be taken over by committed anti-Americans.

And it bodes ill for the world.

America and the world deserve better.
