The Blogs: Why NYC needs Caroline Shinkle now more than ever for Congressional District 12

If you are looking for a Candidate in NYC who is a champion of the people and who puts her heart into everything she cares about so passionately about then Caroline Shinkle is the Woman for the job. I met Caroline a few months ago at the Jerusalem Conference in NYC that I helped host and she conveyed that she has the deepest commitment to NYC, Israel and the greater Jewish community. Caroline Shinkle is the Republican nominee for US Congress in Manhattan (New York’s 12th Congressional district), running to replace Jerry Nadler who is retiring and to restore greatness to New York City, to build a strong counterforce to the mayor’s radical, dangerous agenda, and to cultivate and celebrate, rather than destroy and vilify, the power of private enterprise and success here in the center of global capitalism. She is a graduate of MIT in Economics and of Harvard Law School and worked as a corporate attorney at Cravath, Swaine & Moore before launching her campaign in February.

Prior to her legal career, she worked in central banking at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, DC and also spent time at international central banks including the Bank of Israel in Jerusalem (where she worked under the leadership of Stanley Fischer who became a mentor of mine), the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, and the Bank for International Settlements in Basel. This race transcends political parties. It is no longer Republican vs. Democrat. What we are experiencing is a massive national political realignment, given the radical direction of the Democratic Party leadership. That is why so many Democrats and Independents are crossing the aisle to support me in this election and that is why she can win.

We are living in unprecedented times where antisemitic incidents account for more than 56% of all hate crimes tracked by the NYPD in New York City during the first half of 2026. Just recently, the Central Synagogue faced a major attack in August 2026 when a man stormed the Midtown building during a Shabbat service and shouted slurs. Police arrested a suspect and filed federal hate crime charges. Another incident occurred just steps away from The Jewish Center in Manhattan was the site of a daylight stabbing in July 2026 where a congregant was attacked outside. The New York Times detailed how this violent event left the local community where I live shaken. The Wall Street Journal reported via the Wall Street Journal that anti-Jewish offenses rose 8.5% early in the year, continuing a multi-year surge tied to overseas conflicts as Israel fights the good fight on a daily basis.

The antisemitic Mayor of NYC has only fanned the flames and incited more violence as he calls for riots and protests with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s upcoming UN visit to NYC. As a leader of the Jewish community and Republican movement, I can not stress enough how important it is that we get Caroline Shinkle elected to the 12th Congressional District in NYC. I recently had the chance to speak to this remarkable woman who advocates for the greater good of the people of NYC and the greater Jewish community at large, in which she shared her thoughts and reflections about the current state and aspirations for the future.

1) How can we defeat antisemitism on college campuses?

I will use my background in international finance to track down and prosecute the sources of funds that are underwriting antisemitic violence on college campuses and beyond. We also need to render unelectable all elected officials who are fanning the flames of antisemitism–these people have no business serving in public office–as well as those politicians (like my opponent) who support these antisemitic politicians and enable their anti-American, antisemitic dangerous agenda. They all must be held accountable, because they are all part of the problem.

Perpetrators and organizers of AstroTurf demonstrations that result in violence and damage to public property should also be prosecuted with heavy fines.

Any public college and university campus that enables antisemitic violence should not receive federal funds/grants. Any personal involvement in such violence by public college/university board members will be outed, prosecuted, dismissed.

The enforcement mechanism is loss of federal funds, any or all grants and college accreditation, in addition to fines pointed toward endowments. This behavior ends now.

We also need student reporting hotlines to the Department of Education and Department of Justice, in addition to local police for monitoring and tracking of antisemitic hate crimes.

2) And what is your true vision for a better future for the greater community on the UWS?

My vision is for our community in New York’s 12th Congressional District (which covers the UWS, UES, and all of Midtown down to 14th Street) to be the best place in the country, to live, work, and raise a family, rather than one of the toughest as it is right now. My common sense agenda will create the conditions for all of us to thrive as never before–a booming economy, safe streets and subways, a revitalization of our education system, and unapologetically standing with and protecting each of our communities, including the Jewish community, and their right to thrive.
