Wisdom calls out in the street
The wisdom of King Solomon is so apropos to the current situation in Israel. As a non-Jewish American observer, and I might add a 100% supporter of Israel and the Jewish people, I get quite disturbed when I read some of the current blogs disparaging Israel’s current government and it’s leadership. I understand divisiveness. I live in a country that is so divisive that it defies description. But there is a difference in where I live and where you live. I have no enemies on my borders. What happens in the far flung places of the world have little to no impact on my security. Even on 9/11, I was safe from what was happening in parts of the US that were miles and miles away from me. Israel, on the other hand, is a small country surrounded by enemies on every side I might add. They are right on your borders and are able to indiscriminately attack you almost at will. And let there be no doubt, they want your total destruction!
If I could be so bold I would encourage you, at this time in your history, to set aside your political differences and stand with your current government, unequivocally, because much of the rest of the world is not standing with you. There will be a time for politics later. Your country needs your support and God, Who gave you this land almost 4,000 years ago through His covenant with Abraham, I would think expects it from you.
Solomon wrote: “There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven. A time to give birth and a time to die; A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted. A time to kill and a time to heal; A time to tear down and a time to build up. A time to weep and a time to laugh; A time to mourn and a time to dance. A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing. A time to search and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear apart and a time to sew together; A time to be silent and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate; A time for war and a time for peace.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
