Gays and lesbians are hands-down the proven best parents in the world. Denying them parenthood is as crazy as denying Jews to learn.
Without a new law, Israeli gay men of course still will have state-supported surrogate parenthood from now on. How so?
They should simply go to the High Court of Justice with the new law permitting single women surrogacy and say: please clarify that the State cannot withhold from men what it gives to women.
It’s shooting into an open goal. End of story.
It’s kind of sad and shameful though, when the law (like in the US with Gay Marriage) needs to correct the representatives of the People – while the People in great majority are against all the anti-gay stuff of the State.
And of course, it’s scandalous that Judaism, with all of its revolutionary concepts, its call for protecting the weak and its commitment to fight for justice is (ab)used to hinder mankind’s journey towards a better world.
State-sponsored bigots of course needed to voice their idiocy.
Why are Israeli Jews so quick to condemn this? Jews will not believe that a certain percentage of Jews should have no right to intimacy or sex. But now to tell them that they also cannot have kids clearly can only be evil.
And now the angry national LGBTQ organization of Israel has called for a general strike for this Sunday, which call is already widely supported by employers and by Israeli celebrities, to protest the bigoted new law.
Ironically, Orthodox Jews will also not go to work since it’s the Fast of Tisha beAv.
Maybe it’s one way to have a little bit more unity.
