Woman of Valor – A Series
My Beloved Ima,
Today I enter a sacred crossing.
Not an ending, but a transformation.
My body, which has carried me through seasons of becoming, asks something different of me now. It asks for stillness. It asks for listening. It asks for trust.
For so many years, I have created.
I have created life, memories, meals, comfort, laughter, traditions, safety, and love. I have woven myself into the lives of those I cherish. I have given from places deep within me, often without counting the cost.
And now, my body invites me into a different kind of creation.
The creation of rest.
The creation of healing.
The creation of space.
This Hysterectomy is not taking away my womanhood. It is revealing another face of it.
I honor the womb that has served me faithfully. I honor every cycle, every ache, every transformation, every mystery it carried. I honor the unseen work my body has done for me every day of my life.
And now I release with gratitude.
I do not need to mourn what is changing without also celebrating what remains.
I remain.
The woman I am was never contained in a single organ, a single season, or a single role.
I am still the mother whose love fills rooms before she enters them.
I am still the wife whose heart has learned devotion through both joy and challenge.
I am still the woman whose spirit has weathered storms and opened again to light.
I am still the soul that Hashim breathed into this world with purpose.
As I lie down to heal, I will not see rest as weakness.
I will see it as worship.
Each breath is a prayer.
Each moment of stillness is an offering.
Each hour of healing is a sacred conversation between my body and the One who created it.
I release the need to hurry.
I release the need to produce.
I release the belief that my worth is measured by what I accomplish.
The trees do not apologize for winter.
The moon does not apologize for waning.
The earth does not apologize when it lies quiet beneath the snow, gathering strength for another season.
Neither shall I.
I will allow myself to soften.
I will allow others to care for me.
I will allow my body to move at the pace of healing rather than the pace of expectation.
And in this slowing down, I will notice what was always here.
The miracle of breath.
The warmth of sunlight through a window.
The comfort of blankets.
The tenderness of my family.
The wisdom of silence.
The presence of HaShem in ordinary moments.
I trust that nothing essential is being lost.
Only transformed.
Just as rivers become oceans and seeds become gardens, I am becoming something new.
I do not need to know exactly who she is yet.
I only need to meet her with curiosity and love.
So today I choose gratitude.
Gratitude for the body that has carried me this far.
Gratitude for the hands that will care for me.
Gratitude for the love surrounding me.
Gratitude for every chapter that has brought me here.
And gratitude to HaShem, whose mercy accompanies me into every unknown place.
May this healing be gentle.
May this rest be sacred.
May this stillness reveal beauty.
May I emerge from this season not diminished, but deepened.
And when I look back upon these quiet days, may I remember them not as time lost, but as time returned to myself.
With tenderness, patience, and love,
Ima
