In just 16 weeks, Americans will head to the polls to elect the next president, 34 senators, and 468 representatives. Similarly, it is likely that Israelis will also vote for new leadership in the coming year.

In both America and Israel, the decision at the ballot box should go beyond choosing between political parties or personalities. It’s about selecting leaders who possess the qualities needed to navigate challenges and lead our nations towards a prosperous future.

Here are ten essential qualities to consider when deciding who should lead a nation. Recognizing that no candidate will excel in all ten areas, voters must determine which qualities are most important and where they are willing to compromise.

  1. Integrity and Honesty
    • Integrity is the foundation of effective leadership. A leader must be trustworthy, transparent, and ethical. Look for candidates with a proven record of honesty and ethical behavior, as these traits ensure decisions are made in the nation’s best interest. Transparency fosters trust between leaders and citizens, creating a stable and cohesive society. A lack of integrity and honesty in leadership can lead to corruption and loss of public trust, undermining the stability of the nation.
