A real unity government now and elections as soon as possible

During the past two years our Premier, his government, and his Knesset have been a total failure in almost every field possible, from the protection of our citizens, to our standing in the world, to our relations with our best ally, the United States of America, to the caring of tens of thousands of our citizens who were turned into internal refugees -in their own country. And most important the failure to make the maximum effort to bring back our citizens who were taken as hostages taken to Gaza on 7 October! A failure which continues until this very day.

This same Premier will go on trial in a few days -a trial which demands his presence for hours each week. This, while our country is in one of the most critical periods in its history, with facts changing almost hourly-as I write this blog the television reporters have announced that our troops, after decades are back on the Syrian Mount Hermon and the news broadcasts speak of Israeli air attacks in Syria. Living in Haifa, no one had to tell me that our air force has been operation for hours today.

It is an unforgivable sin, for Bibi to continue as Premier under these conditions. And yes, he is not the only person who can be Premier of this country-there are many others who can do a much better job at leading this country especially at this time.

It is time for this government to end-not in a few weeks but tonight or as soon as possible.

And yes, this is not an opportune time to change government but as we all know the Premier himself, changed the Minister of Defense in the worst of times!

I suggest that the Knesset call for a unity government made up of all Zionist parties with Naftali Bennett as temporary Prime Minister. Why Bennett? I believe that many in this country, including citizens who would not necessarily vote for Bennett in general elections -for example-me!- could agree to Bennett as a temporary Premier until new elections are held in one month. Yes ONE MONTH!

We do not have time for months of electioneering -not now-and yet we must change the government now! There are many democratic countries that are capable of calling for elections in one month!! Israel should not be different from those countries especially in this period!

During this thirty-day period the decisions would be made by a cabinet consisting of the leaders of the major Zionist parties with the understanding that the major decisions for our future would have to wait until after the elections!

Is all of this possible? The answer is yes-if not my suggestion-then something equivalent to my suggestion must be adopted as soon as possible -the present government has brought us total failure and as had to depend on the bravery of our young soldiers for  any success we have in the past year!

Now that we are entering a period of major historical decisions, we need a government chosen by the people after almost two years of national failure and a government with a full-time Premier!

The parties in the present government should be ashamed of their performance in the past two years- a government whose main goal was survival so that each party could satisfy the needs of their base and not the needs of our citizens

It is time to give all the people of Israel a new chance!!!
