A reapproachment to Gaza crises; the other side of the conflict

While major headlines on foreign papers and news websites floated the mortar shells from Gaza as well as the machine gun fires of yesterday, several palestinian and pro-palestinian news sites rather downplayed the story and focused instead on the death of three young palestinians whom they claimed were cruelly murdered by the Idf along the border fence. However few hours later, when the Idf began striking Gazan terror targets, these same agencies were all out with the big headlines blaming the Idf for an unwarranted assault on Gaza; With one of such channels even making emphatic reports on the idea that majority of those wounded during the may 14 Palestine protests have been denied access to healthcare by the Israeli government.

The concernted effort by pro-Palestinian news agencies to disinform the world, and twist every story as an attack on the Palestinians, while also downplaying all terror acts of the Palestines have amounted to nothing but a full scale media conflict. These Palestine conspiracy theorists believes that the key to victory in this conflict is the possession and availability of information, and the ability to analytically represent any action as an act of ‘Injustice.’ Thus laying aside all regards to truth and morality, they have taken the media war down to Israel’s very gates, and have began spreading propaganda’s both online and on the Msm. A more direct cue to this is the recent ban on photographing/videoing Idf soldiers on duty, which while in itself seems as a strong defence mechnism in forestalling the Palestinian propaganda scheme, it has rather been mercilessly criticised by several of the pro-Palestinian channels with the Palestinian journalist syndicate (PCJ) stating that “the bill severely attacks the profession of the press…” This disinformation battle while been sidelined, seem to have become a major bane to the Jewish cause; for example the Bds by exploring this medium, have successfully advocated for a boycott of the Jewish state, and won certain victories by disconvincing several artists and performers from hosting events in Israel.

Just like the Hannukkah, this is a battle between light and darkness, good and evil, truth and lies; and the only way to defeat lies is to confront it with the truth. While we must advocate against censorship of the press, we must also advocate for the proper usage of press freedom.

The truth must be told, and when it isnt, it is our responsibility to expose such lies. The social media have created a level playing ground for information flow, and this must be harnessed. The propaganda of conspiracy theorists must be exposed, their lies uncovered.

The key to the truth now rests on our acceptance that a much serious information war is brewing, and adequate measures and counter measures must be put in place to match this affront.

The ball is in our court, while the journalists meets this affront with the mass media, let us play our part by making use of the social media.
