Adieu Charlie Kirk

A lion-hearted friend of Israel, gone too soon – but not forgotten
I never met Charlie Kirk in person. But like millions of others, I felt I knew him. His voice was familiar, his passion infectious and his love for his country, America, and Israel is unmistakable. And so, when the terrible news of his assassination broke, it hit me like a punch to the gut.
Charlie Kirk, at just 31 years old, had achieved more than many could hope to in a lifetime. He was not merely a conservative commentator or founder of Turning Point USA. He was, in the truest sense, a force of nature – a rare blend of conviction, clarity, and charisma.
For Israel, Charlie was more than an ally. He was family.
He was proud to say it: “My whole life I have defended Israel.” And he lived those words. From university debates to packed rallies, from Fox News segments to Capitol Hill meetings, Charlie used every platform available to him to make Israel’s case – boldly, unapologetically, and with the full weight of his Christian faith and American patriotism behind him.
I remember the first time I commented on one of his posts on social media. Within seconds, he had messaged back – not some bot or staffer, but Charlie himself – inviting me to join hands as patriots. It was classic Charlie: always connecting, always mobilizing, always moving the mission forward.
In his short life, he did not just build a movement; he ignited a generation.
Turning Point USA was not only about politics, it was also about purpose. About giving America’s youth something to believe in, to stand for. And for Charlie, standing with Israel was not a political calculation – it was a moral obligation. He often described visiting Jerusalem as one of the most spiritually formative experiences of his life. “Israel changed my life,” he once said. “It made the Bible pop into reality.”
That is why news of his upcoming visit – one Prime Minister Netanyahu confirmed – was especially poignant. He was coming back to a land he loved, to people who loved him back. That visit will never happen now. And yet, Charlie is in Israel. In the prayers said for him at the Western Wall. In the tributes pouring in from Yair Netanyahu, Isaac Herzog, Amir Ohana, Yoseph Haddad, and thousands more.
Because Charlie Kirk was not just a friend of Israel. He was one of its fiercest defenders in the West. He stood tall for Judeo-Christian civilization. And he never backed down, not even when the threats grew louder.
This is why his assassination feels like a body blow – not just to the American conservative movement, but to everyone who still believes in truth, faith, and freedom.
To be sure, Charlie was controversial. He drew criticism. He made enemies. But that is the cost of conviction in a world addicted to cowardice. And while we did not have to agree with everything he ever said, what we cannot deny is that he stood for something – and he stood with Israel.
He believed, deeply, that Israel was a light unto the nations, a beacon of God’s Covenant (as revealed to Prophet Isaiah thousands of years ago – Isaiah 42:6).
Even in his final public appearance – speaking to a crowd of thousands on a university campus – he was doing what he always did: challenging minds, awakening hearts, and taking bullets for the truth. Literally.
The crack of a sniper’s bullet ended a life, but it could not end a legacy.
Because Charlie’s real power was not in his voice. It was in the courage behind it.
At a time when university campuses are awash with antisemitism, when woke mobs try to cancel every friend of Israel, and when even so-called “allies” hesitate to send weapons to the IDF during wartime, Charlie Kirk was a clarion call of clarity.
He knew the stakes. He saw the darkness. But he chose light.
And that is what made him different. That is what made him dangerous to the radical Left and their ideological cousins in Hamas and Hezbollah. He exposed the collusion between progressivism and jihadism – and he did so without flinching.
His death is not just tragic. It is a wake-up call.
A young, pro-Israel, pro-freedom, pro-America voice was assassinated on a college campus – for speaking truth. For defending our civilization. For daring to believe that resilience and renewal are still possible in a time of great division and decay.
So what now?
We honour Charlie not with silence, but with action. We pick up the mantle he carried. We defend Israel with more boldness, more strategy, more unity. We raise a new generation of young men and women who know that loving Israel is not hate speech, and that standing with Jews is not optional; it is righteous, rooted in God’s Covenant with Abraham (Genesis 12:3).
We remember Charlie not just in mourning, but in mission.
We build schools in his name. We run conferences in his honour. We establish a Charlie Kirk Resilience & Renewal Fellowship, sending young Christian and Jewish leaders to Israel to deepen their bonds. We do all this and more, because that is what he would have done – for the people of God.
This summer, as we reflect on the future of the Jewish state, let us remember one of its most loyal advocates. And let us say without apology:
Charlie Kirk, you were a gift to America. You were a gift to Israel. And you were a gift to the world.
May your memory be a blessing. And may your legacy be our call to rise.
