Arafat’s Pearl Harbor

I wrote this in 2002. Nothing’s changed.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

While a Japaneses delegation was talking peace, 2403 Americans were killed and 1178 wounded at Pearl Harbor. On December 7, 1941, America’s population was about thirty times Israel’s Jewish population today. Thus, in proportion, Israel’s loss in wounded in the last Palestinian terrorist raid would be almost four times ours in the Japanese sneak attack, and infinitely more in dead and wounded since a peace accord was signed at Oslo. Thus, why should Sharon be expected to continue with the peace process after many Pearl Harbors when Roosevelt canned it after only one? And, why did Hirohito deserve two atomic bombs for one Pearl Harbor, and Arafat only one Nobel Prize for so many?
