Senior scholar of media and communications, media expert and policy advisor. Dr Halperin’s work bridges the gap between academia, policy, and community engagement in the areas of radicalisation, counter - terrorism, Palestinian affairs, migration and media. Her pioneering research on the use of new media by the Palestinian Diaspora in the UK positions Dr Amira Halperin as a world expert in digital media technologies and Middle Eastern refugees. She taught at the Department of Sociology, the University of British Columbia (UBC), where she has also been affiliated with the UBC Centre for Migration Studies and has conducted research on the Syrian refugees in Canada. Amira has lengthy global media experience as a an Investigative Journalist and TV Correspondent for large media organisations, including BBC TV investigative documentary series ‘Panorama’. She holds an MA in International Journalism and a PhD in Communication and Media from the University of Westminster.
