David Benger is a Research Fellow at the Center for the Study of Law and Religion at Emory University. He previously worked as a litigator at international law firms, and served a Research Fellow at the Center on the Legal Profession (CLP) at Harvard Law School. He has a background in international law and counter-terrorism, and has worked at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (in Phnom Penh), the International Criminal Court (in The Hague), and the New York County District Attorney’s Office. His analysis has been published by The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, Seattle Times, NY Daily News, Lawfare, The Jewish Press, The Algemeiner, The Times of Israel, Opinio Juris, The University of Chicago Booth Review, and The MirYam Institute.
David is a graduate of Harvard Law School, where he was an editor on the Journal of Law and Public Policy and the HLS National Security Journal. Previously, he was a Schwarzman Scholar at Tsinghua University in Beijing, where he studied international relations with a focus on international law and Israel-China relations. He received his BA summa cum laude in Politics and Russian Studies from Brandeis University. He also served as a law clerk to a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
