Shahar Varon was a commander in the Maglan Unit who was wounded in Gaza and returned to fight alongside his soldiers. He led combat soldiers on October 7th and in the war, and after his injury, specialized in the use of artificial intelligence in the military. He also was among the founders of Katef El Katef, Shoulder to Shoulder, the reservists' organization that led the fight against the draft evasion bill in the Knesset.
