Balak – The Blessings of Balaam

Abraham and Balak

The connection between Abraham and Balaam is that blessings and curses come through them.

The blessings and curses from Abraham:

וַאֲבָרְכָה, מְבָרְכֶיךָ, וּמְקַלֶּלְךָ אָאֹר; וְנִבְרְכוּ בְךָ, כֹּל מִשְׁפְּחֹת הָאֲדָמָה And I will bless them that bless thee,

and him that curseth thee will I curse; and

in thee shall all the families of the earth

be blessed. (Gen12:3)

Similarly, with respect to Balaam:

כִּי יָדַעְתִּי, אֵת אֲשֶׁר-תְּבָרֵךְ מְבֹרָךְ וַאֲשֶׁר תָּאֹר, יוּאָר for I know that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed. (Num 22:6)

Three Blessings

Three blessings are promised to Abraham after he offered Isaac as a sacrifice:

כִּי-בָרֵךְ אֲבָרֶכְךָ, וְהַרְבָּה אַרְבֶּה אֶת-זַרְעֲךָ כְּכוֹכְבֵי הַשָּׁמַיִם, וְכַחוֹל אֲשֶׁר עַל-שְׂפַת הַיָּם; וְיִרַשׁ זַרְעֲךָ אֵת שַׁעַר אֹיְבָיו that in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the seashore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies (Gen 22:17)
וְהִתְבָּרְכוּ בְזַרְעֲךָ, כֹּל גּוֹיֵי הָאָרֶץ, עֵקֶב, אֲשֶׁר שָׁמַעְתָּ בְּקֹלִי and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed…(Gen 22:18)

In summary, the three blessings are:

  1. Your seed as the stars of the heaven and as the sand upon the seashore;
  2. Your seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
  3. All the nations of the earth shall be blessed.

Astonishingly, this is exactly how the three blessings of Balak were concluded.

The first blessing of Balak was concluded as follows:

מִי מָנָה עֲפַר יַעֲקֹב, וּמִסְפָּר אֶת רֹבַע יִשְׂרָאֵל Who hath counted the dust of Jacob, or numbered the fourth of Israel? (Num 23:10)

This first blessing of Balaam corresponds to the first blessing of Abraham in that they are both about the promises of stars of heaven and sand (dust) of the sea, in multitude.

The second blessing of Balaam was concluded as follows:

הֶן-עָם כְּלָבִיא יָקוּם, וְכַאֲרִי יִתְנַשָּׂא; לֹא יִשְׁכַּב עַד-יֹאכַל טֶרֶף וְדַם-חֲלָלִים יִשְׁתֶּה Behold a people that riseth up as a lion, and as a lion doth he lift himself up; he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain. (Num 23:24)

The power of the lion over his prey obviously corresponds to the possession of the gates of the enemy in Abraham’s second blessing.

The third blessing of Balaam was concluded as follows:

מְבָרְכֶיךָ בָרוּךְ, וְאֹרְרֶיךָ אָרוּר Blessed be every one that blesseth thee,

and cursed be every one that curseth thee. (Num 24:9)

At face value, this does not connect to the third blessing of Abraham which is the promise to the nations, but Balak’s concluding blessing here actually is the same as the first blessing of God given to Abraham in Parashat Lech Lecha, which was concluded with the blessing to the nations:

וַאֲבָרְכָה, מְבָרְכֶיךָ, וּמְקַלֶּלְךָ אָאֹר; וְנִבְרְכוּ בְךָ, כֹּל מִשְׁפְּחֹת הָאֲדָמָה And I will bless them that bless thee, and him that curseth thee will I curse; and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed. (Gen 12:3)

Based on this, it is obvious that the final blessings of Abraham and Balaam are both connected to the Nations.

Different phrases for the Nations are employed, their gematria is 1208:

Families of the earth
Nations of the land
    1208

1208 is exactly the same gematria of “seventy languages” שִׁבְעִים לְשֹׁנוֹת, alluding to all the Nations in the world.

The average number of the two phrases is 604, which is the gematria of Mashiach chosen by YHVH מָּשִׁיחַ בְּחִיר יְהוָה, for the blessing of Abraham can only come to Nations through Mashiach.

The primordial number “mispar kidmi” of Abraham is 959, as follows:

Abraham Primordial Number Sum
א א 1
    959

959 is exactly the gematria of the following two concepts:

Blessing of Abraham to Nations
The stranger that sojourn in Israel

Similarly, the primordial number of Nations גוֹיִם is 227:

Nations Primordial Number Sum
    227

Astonishingly, 227 is exactly the gematria of Blessing

The difference between Abraham and Nations in primordial number is: 959 – 227 = 732, where 732 is the gematria of Yeshua Shemo יֵשׁוּעַ שְׁמוֹ, i.e., Yeshua is His Name, that is through Yeshua His Name the Nations become the seed of Abraham and heirs according to the promise (Gal 3:29).

Fourth of Israel

Who hath counted the dust of Jacob, or numbered the fourth of Israel? (Num 23:10)

What is the “fourth of Israel”

The number four always parallel the four-letter name of God, as follow:

YHVH – Father – Yud
Torah – Mother – Hey
Mashiach – Son – Vav
Israel – Bride – Hey
    1536

The Fourth of YHVH is: 1536 / 4 = 384, where 384 is the gematria of Mashiach of YHVH מָּשִׁיחַ יְהוָה, it follows that the fourth part of YHVH is manifested as Father at the wisdom level, as Mother at the Torah level, as Mashiach at the son’s level, and finally as Israel at the daughter’s level.

The fourth part of Israel, therefore, is the further division of number 384 into four parts, which is 96, and 96 is exactly the sum of Israel and Nations in ordinal numbers, as follows:

Ordinal number of Israel
Ordinal number of Nations
    96

Who can number the fourth part of Israel? It is the secret of the union of Israel and the Nations in Mashiach.

The gematria of fourth of Israel רֹבַע יִשְׂרָאֵל is 813, which can be divided by three: 813 / 3 = 271.

Astonishingly, 271 is exactly the midpoint of 541, the gematria of Israel

541 is the 101st prime number, 271 is the 59th prime number, where 59 is the gematria of Goyim גּוֹיִם Nations.

In order for 59 to ascend to 101, it is necessary to add 42.

The 42nd prime number is 179, which is exactly half of 358, the gematria of Mashiach מָּשִׁיחַ. For it is through the faith in Mashiach the Nations are grafted into Israel.

Genealogy of Yeshua

The generations of Yeshua in Matthew were modeled after the pattern of 3 x 14, for a total of 42 generations.

The sacrifices of Balaam were also modeled after the pattern of 3 x 14, for a total of 42 sacrifices.

The first set of 14 generations started with Abraham and concluded with David.

The first blessing of Balaam started with Aram which was the birth place of Abraham and concluded with the death of the righteous and my last end be like his:

Death of the righteous
My last end be like his אַחֲרִיתִי כָּמֹהוּ 700
    1706

The gematria is 853, which is the mirror image of 358, alluding to King David being the archetype of Mashiach.

It is now clear that the first set of 14 sacrifices of Balaam parallels the first set of 14 generations in Yeshua’s genealogy.

The second blessing of Balaam was concluded with “the people shall rise up as a great lion” (Num 23:24). While this refers to Israel’s victory at the simple level, it can also mean Babylonian captivity, where the King of Babylon is called a lion, as it is written:

עָלָה אַרְיֵה, מִסֻּבְּכוֹ, וּמַשְׁחִית גּוֹיִם, נָסַע יָצָא מִמְּקֹמוֹ—לָשׂוּם אַרְצֵךְ לְשַׁמָּה, עָרַיִךְ תִּצֶּינָה מֵאֵין יוֹשֵׁב A lion is gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations is set out, gone forth from his place; to make thy land desolate, that thy cities be laid waste, without inhabitant. (Jeremiah 4:7)

Similarly, the second set of 14 generations of Yeshua was concluded with the captivity of Babylon.

The third blessing of Balaam was concluded with the blessing of Nations, as discussed above, and similarly, the third set of 14 generations ushered in the birth of Yeshua, being the ultimate blessing to the Nations.
