First, there was annexation and an Arab Palestinian State on condition.
Then, left, right, and center said that they liked part of the plan.
Then the right started talking about annexation as if Trump gave them permission. But in fact, there was already a majority for part annexation before Trump’s plan. Now it’s packaged as if it’s part of the peace plan.
This is very bad because as soon as you now annex one square meter, ‘to be fair,’ the whole world will demand an Arab Palestinian State — overlooking all the preconditions Trump’s team formulated.
Therefore, this Deal of the Century is dangerous. It threatens to realize a terror State on top of the one we have in Gaza, in the very heart of Israel.
We would pay for it for a century. (Is it therefore dubbed ‘Deal of the Century’?!) So it won’t happen. But the result of this ‘peace plan’ is that it encourages the Arab Palestinian Street in their pipedream of uprooting Israel, eggs them on to be violent again, after many years of quiet, and legitimizes anew the whole world pressuring Israel (and for the form also Abbas). That includes Europe that finally had woken up to how virulent antisemitism still is and the US that soon may have an anti-Israel president.
The ‘evenhanded’ vision of the world will be again that democratic Israel should be pressured to provide obligations and the autocratic corrupt Arab Palestinian leadership will be free to broadcast its victimhood and ‘rights.’
This dangerous plan also calls for a ‘four-year’ ‘settlement’ freeze and Trump and his henchmen have now ‘clarified’ that the status quo on the Temple Mount must be maintained and that before the elections, no territory may be annexed. Israel again on America’s leash.
Meanwhile, the Israeli center and left are emboldened again too to work toward an Arab Palestinian State — as if the Rabin/Peres peace process ever did any good, didn’t cost the death and maiming of 1000s of Jews.
Trump and his team are the so-maniest know-it-alls from outside, helped by a Bibi who lost touch, who worsened the situation in the Middle East.
Those who know to pray, please do.
