Netanyahu, the capitalist, early on understood that prioritizing saving lives was, in the longer run, going to save the economy. And he was right. The opposite of Trump, who prioritized the economy, killed close to half a million Americans, and then lost the economy too.
One of the things that hindered Bibi’s approach was the constant criticism of him by the opposition and the left, that never recovered from losing power when Rabin was murdered. The present PM was at the forefront accusing Bibi. That’s why people were lax in prevention and vaccination. And then he criticized the government for not being effective enough.
Now the tables are turned. Mr. Know-it-all-better is now PM and it’s a mess. Reportedly, he’s prioritizing the* economy. And, reportedly, he just bribed the heads of the hospitals into silence. We all know where that will lead. The only thing we can do is ignore the new lenient COVID rules and be more stringent in protecting ourselves, our loved ones, and the nation!
First, while still in the opposition, the current PM and his friends said anything to discredit Bibi and undermine his authority. Now the tables are turned and the trend of discrediting the coalition continues. Curses are like young chickens: they always come home to roost. He used to say that Bibi was inept. He now blames a lack of success on us not wanting to help him. But, in the end, not he but we, the People, are the ones paying the price.
There is criticism on the current government for the PR stunt of renaming the virus the Delta virus and pretending it’s a new disease. I disagree.
The coronavirus delta variant is like a new virus and should be regarded as such. One mistake many make is: we conquered COVID, got vaccinated, and can ignore the problem. The new variant is also risky for 60-. And it is much more contagious. Even 3 vaccinations don’t take everyone out of the danger zone. Put on your masks again and distance yourself socially!

Like most of his readers, he believes in being friendly, respectful, and loyal. However, if you think those are his absolute top priorities, you might end up disappointed. His first loyalty is to the truth. He agrees that in a post-truth world, that's irrelevant, but then this is for the record. Chronologically, his most influential teachers are his parents, Nico (natan) van Zuiden and Betty (beisye) Nieweg, Wim Kan, Mozart, Harvey Jackins, Marshal Rosenberg, Reb Shlomo Carlebach, and, lehavdil bein chayim lechayim, Rabbi Dr. Natan Lopes Cardozo, Rav Zev Leff, and Rav Meir Lubin. This short list doesn't mean to disrespect others who taught him a lot or a little. One of his rabbis calls him Mr. Innovation [Ish haChidushim]. Yet, his originalities seem to root deeply in traditional Judaism, though they may grow in unexpected directions. In fact, he claims he's modernizing nothing. Rather, mainly basing himself on the basic Hebrew Torah text, he tries to rediscover classical Jewish thought almost lost in thousands of years of stifling Gentile domination and Jewish assimilation.
