Kudos to everyone who stands with the weak, just as Judaism prescribes
Thirty years ago, when I was watching TV as a new immigrant, I followed Jordan’s news daily. How a semi-democracy manipulated the facts. Whenever the public rose up against the repression, the state news accused them of ‘sowing discord’! How cleverly and wickedly put.
A victorious majority does not dictate what’s ethical and what’s not. The principle of equality, the bedrock of democracy, demands that the rights of minorities won’t be trampled, no matter how often that’s accepted before.
What a pity that Bibi, who also did good stuff for the State (prioritized COVID prevention over short-term economic goals, saving thousands of lives), will be remembered for being, in the end, an anti-democrat.
Talking of Trump, the race for 2024 won’t be between him and other Republican or Democratic candidates but between him and anti-Nazism. Trump doesn’t know most Americans loathe Jew hate with a vengeance.
Finally, we should scold Israel’s humanist High Court for permitting anti-democrats to stand in elections. That’s the fundamental scandal everyone ignores. Do they really appreciate equality, or are they just a pack of liberals?
