Can We Remove the Masks, Shields, Walls, We Wear?

Can We Remove the Masks, Shields, Walls, We Wear?

The challenges, periods of crisis present,

COVID, war and loved ones lost,

One after the other, all have witnessed,

Left emotional and physical scars.

The world appears, not as the world we knew.

Where and in what can we find solace?

In those and that which we love, beyond it all,

As we journey through the window of time and place,

Along the ever-moving train of life

Through which we see an honor guard of trees,

Or a choreography of the breath of forests

As both shadows and light play hide and seek.

An airlift of birds are held adrift

Falling and rising in formation

In a symphony of Psalms of praise,

As each planet sounds its note in music of the spheres.

The tapestry of flowers and azure landscape

Reflect in pools the sky and cloud formations

As winter meanders after autumn rains

To new sets and backgrounds on life’s stage.

In harmony with the surrounding universe,

Can we remove the masks, shields and walls we wear?

That is for the world and us to answer.
