‘Detractors and Conspiratorialists’ Respond to Bondi Beach

A few observations re SOME of the early responses to the antisemitic slaughter at Bondi Beach. There’s a certain “playbook” after an attack on Jews around the World. And we see it once again in some of the early reactions to the Hanukkah slaughter at Bondi Beach in Australia.
Note: I’ve been posting quite prolifically – some might say, excessively -on this matter on X (Twitter) at both Washington Views and QPR Report
Some of course did the honorable thing and just unequivocally-denounced and deplored the attack. One can obviously question the sincerity or motivation of some of the denunciations, given various past statements and actions; but it is definitely better to have condemnations than statements of support (or denial). As the old saying goes “Hypocrisy is the tribute vice pays to virtue.” And just maybe for some; it will lead to their reevaluation of some of their statements and actions.
There were a heartening number of posts denouncing the attack and expressing sympathy for the Jews of Australia. And in fact towards Jews around the World. Just a small example: In England, almost every single English Premier League Football (Soccer!) club issued “Happy Hanukkah” posts – with most of them referencing the Bondi Beach slaughter. This hasn’t always been the case.
We also saw various posters asking “Cui Bono?“ “Who Benefits?” (with the implied or explicit answer being given as Israel and Jews); Who was REALLY Behind it: (Answer: Israel/The Mossad). For many the assertion from quite a number of posters that this was “obviously.” A “False Flag” Operation – with Israel behind. The number of postings saying “False Flag” is considerable and repulsive. (Just go on google or X and type in “False Flag” and prepared to be swamped with the accusations.
There are those saying “we condemn it. But….Or “As we condemn (the much worse) slaughter in Gaza” – With the subject: Sure this attack was bad; but why so much media focus and denunciations of the killing of a dozen people when so many more people. And there are people attacking the responses by Israeli officials or Jewish leaders. The old standard Israel and its supporters are trying to “Weaponize” acts of antisemitism – antisemitism which they claim Israel is largely responsible for growing.) Acknowledging the Sydney attack was bad; but don’t blame it on the various anti-Israel protests or seek to condemn it.
People saying this is the result/ consequence for Jews of what Israel did in Gaza (with the addendum that if the Jews were supporting Israel; the attack is not totally-unreasonable). And some offer sympathy on the attack; without calling the attack terrorism, or that this was an attack on Jews; celebrating Hanukkah referencing the antisemitism of the attack.
Sadly: Stay tuned. The antisemitic hate and wild conspiracies go on. (And if space and time had permitted; I could have posted literally hundreds of examples of these posts. Basically for too-many people; whatever happens to Jews is either defended, condoned, minimized, “contextualized,” explained or even blamed on being done by Israeli agents.
Meanwhile to Jews around the World I can only say: Happy Hanukkah
