Dismantle Israel? No. Dismantle Australia

Clementine Ford has given me a wonderful idea.

Yes, that Clementine Ford, the Jew-loathing, Israel-slandering, hate-mongering Australian disinformation-launderer, who, despite all evidence to the contrary, says no Israeli women were raped October 7; and who, despite all evidence to the contrary, swears there is genocide in Gaza. Her good idea is dismantling a country: not Israel, as she has proposed, but Australia. Yes, the time has come to dismantle Australia.

Take it from Mike Burgess, head of the Australian Security Intelligence Organization. His Agency’s annual threat assessment finds that Australia’s social cohesion is eroding in a stew of intolerance, political violence, and misinformation. The country is threatened by “heightened levels of espionage and foreign interference.” It is “facing multifaceted, merging, intersecting, concurrent and cascading threats,” Burgess said, and, “Major geopolitical, economic, social and security challenges of the 1930s, ’70s and ’90s have converged.”

More from Burgess’ Canberra speech: “The normalisation of violent protest and intimidating behaviour lowered the threshold for provocative and potentially violent acts.” No one has suffered more from this than Jewish Australians, as the report explains: “Narratives originally centered on ‘freeing Palestine’ expanded to include incitements to ‘kill the Jews.’”

Since October 7, 2003 when Hamas murdered, raped, maimed, tortured and kidnapped hundreds of Jewish civilians in Israel, Australians have been hit by wave after wave of attacks: Australian Jewish children taunted in their school uniforms; Australian Jewish university students and staff harassed and spat on; vile antisemitic graffiti and firebombing of Australian Jewish communal property; a caravan laden with explosives and a list of Jewish targets; and the doxxing of Australian Jewish artists and creatives.

Last week, a violent mob smashed a Jewish restaurant; an arsonist tried to burn Melbourne’s oldest synagogue to the ground with congregants inside; vehicles were set on fire; and a building was defaced with antisemitic graffiti.

Australia has shown itself unable or unwilling to contend with this violence. It is out of control. According to the Anti-Defamation League, there were 2,062 documented antisemitic incidents in Australia in 2024 alone – a 316% increase from the year before.

It won’t stop there, Burgess said. Going forward, targets of community violence will not be limited to nationality, race, culture, religion or gender, according to the threat assessment.

So here is a country founded on colonialism, with a government that still disenfranchises Aboriginal people; a country that is racist, violent, lawless, disinformed, compromised; rotten, you could say, to the core.

It must be dismantled. This is the solution prescribed for Israel by Australians like the pseudo-feminist Ford, who has spread as much Hamas disinformation as Reuters, BBC, ABC, Washington Post, and The New York Times combined. (Hope she is being paid well).

Yes, Burgess is right to be “concerned about young Australians being caught up in webs of hate, both religiously and ideologically motivated.” Exhibit A: Clementine Ford. As Burgess wrote, and all of these antisemitic acts demonstrate, a hyper-connected world has allowed “conflicts overseas to resonate quickly in Australia, spread by social media and online echo chambers, inflamed by mis- or disinformation.” Exhibit A, Ford, again.

So take it down. Dismantle it. And thank Exhibit A, Clementine Ford, for the idea.
