Don’t justify or even minimize Trump’s abuse of the GOP and the American people

Down with these calls on Biden to pardon Trump so that fooled tea-party followers, greedy lying Republican Party members, bigoted Christian fundamentalists, and White supremacists can feel good about themselves again and be hopeful about a future influence of those wicked ideas!

Of course, we see such pleas accompanied by euphemisms as intentions “to mount further acts of political violence,” for kidnapping and murder of lawmakers, and by the swamp mentality that the common violent fool should pay, but their leader, hero, and chief instigator should get a pass?

And a pardon should certainly not be given before is investigated if Trump was in fact a Russian spy, blackmailed or/and handsomely paid to promote foreign interests, or tried even a military coup.

“When they go low, we go high” is a mistake. When they go low, you expose them and lock them up.

But what about the good things Trump did? Well, to put it bluntly, Hitler wanted to give every ‘German family’ their own car, loved dogs, and rejected national shame. Should we not forget to praise him for that?

But condemning Hitler would estrange all those ordinary Germans who believed in a strong Germany and who happened to dislike the Jews.

As post-Nazi Germany learned and teaches, dignity can only emerge from rejecting an evil past, not from ‘reconciling’ with it. Hope has to come from calling a spade a spade, owning up what was and went wrong, not from saying that everyone had the best of intentions and deserves to be treated the same. Unity can only come from rallying around worthy causes, not from equalizing lying and bigotry with being honest and democratic.

Trump’s rule was a hoax, supportive of almost all bigotry, theft of the poor and grand support for the super-wealthy, and grossly negligent in security, both on public health during a pandemic, on environmental safety, and in disrupting international diplomacy to keep tyrants in check.

To pardon Trump is pretending that he was like any previous US president, that the shift to Biden is just an ordinary GOP-Democrats transition, that we should forget and forgive his wide abuse of power, incompetence, and cover-ups, as if they did not endanger millions or even the very survival of human life on the planet, as if we won’t need to beat back for decades-to-come the disasters he grew in lawlessness, homegrown terrorism, poverty, international terrorism and war, ecological disaster, etc.

Let’s not forget that he can’t even be impeached or prosecuted for the worst things he did: Sow racism, sow doubt about political and journalistic honesty, ignore and deny early warnings by China’s leader about the true nature of the upcoming pandemic costing about 1 million USers their lives.

Turning over a new leaf and forgiveness are nice. Yet, you don’t begin to do that by pardoning and whitewashing the most powerful abusive crook.

Good-willing Trump voters can be won over by giving them universal healthcare, good-paying jobs, protection against the pandemic, pride in the role the US plays internationally, etc. Pardoning Trump is not needed.

I mean, what will be next? Not replacing Marjorie Taylor Greene because otherwise her followers would believe the Rothschilds did it?

Besides, betchya Trump already has two Get Out of Jail Free cards up his sleeve, one signed by him for if push’d come to shove, and if that won’t work (after litigation up to the Supreme Court), one by his VP Pence.

And every self-serving liar and faker who claims that Trump should be forgiven should be tarred and feathered and chased out of town.

Truth matters. Let everyone have their own opinions, but not ‘facts.’

Media who publish these rouge ideas in the name of being balanced in coverage are rather endangering democracy by giving credence to a whole system of lies and are showing their lack of wisdom or even spinelessness.

Media blackout to the bigots and liars! Stop the collusion! Lock them up!

You don’t dialogue with thieves, fascists. You disempowered them, stupid.

He is a fetal survivor of the pharmaceutical industry (, born in 1953 to two Dutch survivors who met in the largest concentration camp in the Netherlands, Westerbork, and holds a BA in medicine (University of Amsterdam). He taught Re-evaluation Co-counseling, became a social activist, became religious, made Aliyah, and raised three wonderful kids. He wrote an unpublished tome about Jewish Free Will. He's a strict vegan since 2008. He's an Orthodox Jew but not a rabbi. * His most influential teachers (chronologically) are: his parents, Nico (natan) van Zuiden and Betty (beisye) Nieweg, Wim Kan, Mozart, Harvey Jackins, Marshal Rosenberg, Reb Shlomo Carlebach, and, lehavdil bein chayim lechayim: Rabbi Dr. Natan Lopes Cardozo, Rav Zev Leff, and Rav Meir Lubin. * Previously, for decades, he was known to the Jerusalem Post readers as a frequent letter writer. For a couple of years, he wrote hasbara for the Dutch public. His fields of attention now are varied: Psychology (including Sexuality and Abuse), Medicine (including physical immortality), Science (statistics), Politics (Israel, the US and the Netherlands, Activism - more than leftwing or rightwing, he hopes to highlight Truth), Oppression and Liberation (intersectionally, for young people, the elderly, non-Whites, women, workers, Jews, LGBTQIA, foreigners and anyone else who's dehumanized or exploited), Integrity, Philosophy, Jews (Judaism, Zionism, Holocaust and Jewish Liberation), Ecology and Veganism. Sometimes he's misunderstood because he has such a wide vision that never fits any specialist's box. But that's exactly what many love about him. Many of his posts relate to affairs from the news or the Torah Portion of the Week or are new insights that suddenly befell him. * He hopes that his words will inspire and inform, reassure the doubters but make the self-assured doubt more. He strives to bring a fresh perspective rather than bore you with the obvious. He doesn't expect his readers to agree. Rather, original minds must be disputed. In short, his main political positions are: anti-Trumpism, for Zionism, Intersectionality, non-violence, democracy, anti the fake peace process, for original-Orthodoxy, Science, Free Will, anti blaming-the-victim and for down-to-earth optimism. Read his blog how he attempts to bridge any discrepancies. He admits sometimes exaggerating to make a point, which could have him come across as nasty, while in actuality, he's quite a lovely person to interact with. He holds - how Dutch - that a strong opinion doesn't imply intolerance of other views. * His writing has been made possible by an allowance for second-generation Holocaust survivors from the Netherlands. It has been his dream since he was 38 to try to make a difference by teaching through writing. He had three times 9-out-of-10 for Dutch at his high school finals but is spending his days communicating in English and Hebrew - how ironic. G-d must have a fine sense of humor. In case you wonder - yes, he is a bit dyslectic. November 13, 2018, he published his 500th blog post with the ToI. If you're a native English speaker and wonder why you should read from people whose English is only their second language, consider the advantage of having a peek outside of your cultural bubble. * To find his earlier blog posts on a certain subject XXX, among his over 1200 ones, go to the right-top corner of the Times of Israel page, click on the search icon and search "zuiden, XXX".
