Echoes and Whispers of Jerusalem – Sonnet

Echoes, whispers, sighs and silences
of Jerusalem.
The human procession reflects its gem.
Straddles, walks, runs the length of its
hem.
One cannot fathom space and time
therein.

All transcends time and space by Divine
grace.
Lodged in the sacred between heaven
and earth.
Its cycles travel, give time for birth.
Eternity meets space in history’s race.

The panorama does appear and fade.
Hymns, prayers, hopes and dreams
Ricochet with stories again to be made
Heard in its stones and left in its
beams.

They can best be heard in one’s
stillness.
If one but listens to winds and
breezes.
