Fortunée de Picciotto Association Expands Pediatric Dental, Eye Care
Entity records record number of consultations and broadens free care for children and adolescents
Marking more than a decade of service, the Fortunée de Picciotto Israelite Association is expanding its free healthcare offerings by incorporating implant dentistry into its dental services and strengthening pediatric ophthalmology.
As part of its private clinic structure, the dental department now includes implantology and prosthetics, ensuring sustainability and continuity of its free care initiatives.
For the Association’s founder, Lebanese Jewish immigrant Vivian de Picciotto, this expansion represents the chance to grow a project born from his desire to give back to Brazil:
I always dreamed of finding a way to repay everything Brazil has given me. If I can, thank God, expand the care offered to children, I am even happier, he says.
Over 12 years, the Association has provided more than 100,000 dental consultations and, since 2024, has carried out 12,000 ophthalmological consultations. The expansion responds to growing demand and reinforces the institution’s commitment to offering free, high-quality care to children and adolescents in vulnerable situations.
The ophthalmology program was introduced by director Flavia de Picciotto Terpins, who identified—through research—the link between undiagnosed vision problems and learning difficulties in early childhood and elementary education.
Currently, pediatric ophthalmologists hold consultations twice a week at the Association. When corrective lenses are needed, the institution also provides free eyeglasses, including frames chosen by the children themselves, making treatment more welcoming and encouraging adherence.
Care is free for children and youth up to 17 years old, provided they are referred by a partner organization or can demonstrate vulnerability through CadÚnico registration.
With these expanded services, the Association strengthens its mission to promote health, prevention, and quality of life, ensuring that vulnerable children have access to treatments often unavailable through private healthcare.
About the Fortunée de Picciotto Israelite Association
Founded in 2014 by Lebanese Jewish immigrant Vivian de Picciotto, the Association was created to provide high-quality, free dental care to socially vulnerable children. Today, it offers pediatric dentistry and ophthalmology services focused on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. In 2025 alone, it served more than 32,000 patients.
