In his May 23, 2023 article in the Jerusalem Post, “Israel has failed to fight Latvia, Lithuania’s Holocaust distortion”, Dr. Ephraim Zuroff exposes a “pay for media” program by the government of Lithuania. It appears all one needs to do is be willing to write glowing articles about Lithuania, and in return Lithuania will provide the journalist an all-expenses paid “European” vacation. Lithuania offers these same boondoggle vacations to journalists from countries other than Israel, as well. In her article: “A week in Lithuania”, Desrae Saacks states it openly – she says “When I accepted an invitation from the Lithuanian government’s department of Foreign Affairs to visit the country in April of this year, I understood this to be a PR exercise.”
To the embarrassment of Israel, Jews, media with integrity, and anyone with an IQ above that of a houseplant, articles extolling the virtues of Lithuania appear in the press – often an exchange of value having been made for them to be published. And so, Lithuanian Holocaust revisionism gets sidelined, or worse; ignored and buried.
The Lithuanian government is very concerned about the country’s international image. They have an army of “elves”. “Elves” are wonderous creatures of our imagination – unless they are real. In Lithuania, they are. Hundreds, if not thousands, of “elves” are hard at work in Lithuania scouring the news for negative stories. Even Britain’s Financial Times Newspaper has written about these “elves”. Five years ago, I described Lithuanian “elves” here: Bogeymen, elves, trolls and monsters. These elves have remained hard at work, even cooperating hand-in-glove with government to issue threats of criminal charges for exposing Lithuanian Holocaust perpetrators, and other truths.
Lithuania wants to control every aspect of the media: they need negative news to be suppressed (such as their rampant heroization of Holocaust perpetrators), and they want false news elevated to appear truthful. In the words of previous Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linkevicius: “It took time to convince them that lies are not freedom of speech.” But what Lithuania calls “lies”, is often the truth.
Lithuania is on a worldwide campaign to rewrite their national history and present their “Fake Truth”. Many of their wartime national heroes (called partisans) were thieves, rapists, pedophiles, sadists, murderers, and guilty of horrific atrocities (against Jews). Lithuania transformed them into national symbols of the patriotic Lithuanian anti-Soviet movement. For Lithuania, their reputation cannot be tarnished by introducing facts and truth into their national consciousness. As the descendant of Holocaust victims of Lithuanian criminals and murderers, I demand exactly that, and have been doing so for decades, and, will continue to do so.
Prior Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linkevicius admitted my facts are correct. Lithuania’s Ambassador to South Africa admits my facts are correct. The US Federal Government, in a report to Congress, reports my facts are correct. Even Helen Keller would be able to see the facts are correct. Only the Government of Lithuania is blind and deaf to the truth of the Lithuanian Holocaust.
In spite of the US Governments confirmation of Noreika’s crimes, Lithuanian government threats of criminal and Constitutional charges against me for exposing their heroes as murderers have not been retracted. Nor has the Government of Lithuania apologized for the public accusations and slanders levied against me on the floor of their Parliament. Lithuania’s exposed Holocaust revisionists have never been censured, their pensions have never been withdrawn, their own national hero status and medals have never been questioned. So, national fraud in Lithuania remains an officially endorsed activity. No offered truths are allowed to impede Lithuania’s recreated history.
Unfortunately for Lithuania, they have few positives to sell. So, like their falsified history, positives must be created. Lithuania is hard at work planting positive media stories, and paying for the privilege. To these ends, seven articles were transacted for Britain’s Financial Times in a “pay to play” type media acquisition. Readers believed these were objective articles, right up to when even the Lithuanian media exposed them.
Facts about Lithuania’s Holocaust history are known. Some journalists are obviously willing to report for quid-pro-quo compensation, so, Jews especially should view positive articles about Lithuania with a jaundiced eye and treat them with skepticism – if at all. Is the reporting genuine, or is the reader being propagandized as the end product for the journalists’ free vacation? Free is, after all, never free.
When articles praising Lithuania appear, readers would be well advised to bear in mind the popular acronym “TINSTAAFL” (There Is No Such Thing As A Free Lunch!).
Lithuania will host the 2023 NATO Summit in Vilnius in July. The city is being spruced up for international delegations. The largest and most intrusive monument for Lithuanian Holocaust perpetrator Jonas Noreika, was recently temporarily removed from sight for “cleaning”. After all, the government does not want questions to be asked or the truth written about this embarrassment in the public sphere. They have determined that it is better to avoid such a display when journalists, tourists and visiting NATO delegations are in town.
After the Summit, Lithuania will again need positive press. If you are a journalist or other person of the media, and you want a free vacation to Eastern Europe, you might want to contact the nearest Lithuanian Embassy and apply. But remember, free is never free. The product being transacted is an intangible – journalistic ethics, including dignity, self respect and honesty.
