Bogeymen, elves, trolls and monsters:

Russia has long been a bogeyman, it has territorial aspirations with tentacles that reach far and wide. Bogeymen are scary, there is no child that hasn’t feared the bogeyman in the closet or the bogeyman under the bed. There is no parent that has not had to comfort a child, reassuring them that they are protecting the child from the bogeyman; they are the parent protector against the outsider who simply seeks to destroy, and so too it is in Eastern Europe, where unsophisticated people are frightened into otherwise unacceptable behaviors by terror of the omnipresent bogeyman.

Lithuania has created a volunteer army to fight the bogeyman – they have named themselves “Elves”. This war is on the internet where anything which does not follow the nationalist narrative is considered “fake news” and must be opposed and defeated. Lithuanian politicians such as the Mayor of Vilnius, Remigijus Simasius has stated: “Now we understand that we have to contribute ourselves to defend our country – also on the internet” have contributed to a state of fear and paranoia where everything not meeting his or their national narrative is an attack on the nation that elves must identify and destroy. The “Elves”, who are the “peoples army” scan online forums looking for deviation from the Lithuanian ideological orthodoxy while the government itself does the same on a larger scale. There is only one “right answer” in Lithuania, and that is the narrative required by the Government.

The Lithuanian government is adamant that their “Freedom Fighters”, “Forest Brothers” and “Partisans” never murdered Jews. A claim that is spectacular in its dishonesty. Lithuania is operated on propaganda, fear and intimidation; lessons they learned well during their occupation by the Soviets. Now they apply those same lessons, the student having mastered the teacher.

In 2015, 19 of the country’s leading citizens and academics stood up to the government to ask them to stop honoring a Jew-murderer named Jonas Noreika, as one of Lithuania’s greatest national heroes. The governments’ immediate response was to publicly identify these 19 as “Agents of the East” (Russian Agents) and to oppose them as enemies of the Lithuanian State. It mattered naught that these 19 were exposing a government program of converting Lithuanian Holocaust perpetrators into mythical heroic figures who defended the nationalistic state. To Lithuania, the murderers’ reputation was impeccable and must never be disputed or exposed.

Lithuania launched a program urging citizens to report any suspicious activity — on the street or on the internet, and so the “elves” went to war against the “trolls”, in an epic battle with the bogeyman.

Facts for Lithuania are not a consideration, the educated youth tend to emigrate soon after graduation, leaving the sick, the elderly and the superstitious to maintain the nationalistic state.

In order to control media, Lithuania, an EU State, banned a Russian television station. Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius said about the bans:

“A lie is not an alternative point of view, one can say ‘it’s freedom of speech, everyone can say whatever he wants.’ Of course, I agree. But if it’s (a) resourced propaganda machine brainwashing people, it’s not just an alternative point of view. It’s a weapon.” Linkevicius, a fundamentally decent man, missed in this statement that his own government is as guilty of deception as any Russian television station could ever be.

A propaganda war is raging in Lithuania where the Lithuanian government expunged the convictions of many Holocaust perpetrators, and instead awarded them national honors. The intended strategy of falsified history was to convert the guilty into innocents and elevate their “Freedom Fighters”, “Forest Brothers” and “Partisans” into a nation building tool to rally the people around common heroes, just as they wish their society to rally around a common enemy. It was indeed a calculated strategy of deception.

No society wishes to be identified with genocidal murderers, and with the passing of time, Lithuanian national myths have been invented and propagated. They have been repeated so many times that the myths are now the Lithuanian reality.

I have personally been told by countless Lithuanian’s that their families were responsible for saving Jewish lives; if this were true, millions of the 220,000 murdered Jews would have been rescued. Interestingly, only three Lithuanians have admitted to me that there were perpetrators among their family members, and all three have been denounced by the Lithuanian Government. The Lithuanian President liberally hands out awards to Lithuanians who claim to have rescued Jews, despite no corroboration by Yad Vashem. Lithuania has never punished anyone who murdered Jews during the Holocaust.

The elves and their co-warriors protect Lithuania from anyone who may expose truth. George Orwell said: “Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.” Clearly, the Lithuanian government is determined to control their past.

The entire Lithuanian government has joined in the war against truth about those that murdered Jews. The office of the President of Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskaite, is on record bringing the State Security Department, Lithuania’s Supreme Court along with herself, to validate the hero status of the genocidal Lithuanian, Jonas Noreika. Lithuania’s official propaganda arm, “The Genocide and Resistance Research Centre of Lithuania (LGGRTC)” adopted full Holocaust distortion mode, denying and negating the dozens of documents issued and signed by Noreika in his commission of genocidal crimes against Lithuania’s Jewish citizens. This research center which is the official voice of the government for Holocaust issues, is administered by Terese Birute Burauskaite, who recently admitted that her findings are politically expedient determinations, not necessarily factual.

Escalating Holocaust deceptions only increases international outrage at the Lithuanian government. All civilized nations oppose the glorification of Nazi genocidal criminals. Regardless of the plethora of evidence presented to the Lithuanian government, facts have been progressively denied. Governmental intimidation ensued with threats of criminal prosecution for presenting historical studies. After all, again in the words of George Orwell, “If you want to keep a secret, you must also hide it from yourself.” Historical studies that present documents from Lithuanian archives will surely cause Lithuanians to question their own government.

The Lithuanian government has now confirmed they will go to Court to defend the good reputation of a Holocaust perpetrator responsible for murdering over 14,000 Jews. For the first time since the end of the Second World War, an EU Government and a member state of NATO is presenting a legal case that a genocidal Nazi is their national hero. This defines Lithuanian national values for another generation. Their actions drown out their words.

The Bogeyman they have so feared has become themselves. The elves that they employed to protect them from the trolls have become goblins defending Nazi’s. Fervent nationalism and xenophobia are now their very own monster.

In Pittsburgh, 11 Jews were murdered and much of America is reacting in horror. In Lithuania, 220,000 Jews were murdered and some of their murders are revered as Lithuania’s national heroes. Therein lies the difference between Lithuania and America. Lithuania is an Orwellian state and their government will soon be going to court to prove it.
