Free one-way tickets out of Israel
This new Ayin Tova cartoon features Ultra-Orthodox Jews proudly publicizing their hate toward Israel. If they are so unhappy with where they are living, or with the modern reality of a Jewish country with citizens, perhaps they should consider leaving to find meaning and community elsewhere. To make is easier, there appears a kind-hearted fellow who will generously help them leave Israel with a complimentary one-way ticket out. Win-win.
If these Hareidi Jews refuse to help shoulder national obligations and responsibilities, and are avoiding making active, positive contributions to society, then why should they also benefit from living in Israel?
If these Hareidim do not treat other Jews as their beloved comrades / neighbors (re’im), or if they presume to draw others in the nation of Israel outside of the Jewish family circle, then perhaps they should consider moving (possibly even to a country that is willing to give them a free ride).
If they cannot make the leap to somehow integrate the precious and challenging new reality of Jewish self-governance and determination embodied by the modern State of Israel in the ancestral Jewish homeland, or if they lack faith in God’s engagement with history, then perhaps they should return to the Diaspora and stop being a drain on Israeli society.
