Freedom Has No Borders: July 4th and the Bond Between America and Israel
Every year on July 4, Americans celebrate the birth of a nation built on freedom. It’s a day of pride, patriotism, and reflection on the values that make the United States strong: liberty, independence, and the courage to stand up for what is right.
This year, as we wave our flags and watch the fireworks, we are reminded that these ideals don’t exist in isolation. Freedom and democracy are values we share with our greatest ally—Israel.
The relationship between the United States and Israel has always gone beyond politics. It is a bond built on shared values, mutual respect, and a deep commitment to defending liberty. Both nations were born through struggle, have faced enemies determined to destroy them, and continue to fight every day to protect the freedoms their people hold dear.
In times of peace and in times of war, that bond has only grown stronger.
When I moved to Boca Raton in 2015, I quickly learned that if you wanted to do anything for Israel—whether a fundraiser, a rally, or an event—you called Glen. His name was always mentioned, his help always offered. But it wasn’t until I saw him in action that I truly understood.
Glen lives and breathes support for Israel’s soldiers. His motto, “Never let them walk alone,” is more than a slogan. It’s a way of life. Helping Israel Fund has created warm spaces for IDF soldiers across the country, provided essential supplies, and made sure that no soldier ever feels forgotten.
After moving to Israel in 2020, I didn’t hear much—until the war broke out. That’s when Glen and Helping Israel Fund stepped up in a way that felt like watching the American spirit take root in Israeli soil. They weren’t watching from the sidelines. They were acting – raising millions in funds, delivering non-military gear, feeding soldiers on bases, and offering emotional support wherever it was needed most.
With family members serving in elite IDF units, Glen was personally invested. But more than that, he showed what it means to be a true ally. His work became a living bridge between the values of American freedom and the resilience of the Israeli people.
This is what it means to stand together—not just in words, but in action.
On this Independence Day, we are reminded that freedom is not free. It requires constant vigilance, sacrifice, and unity. America and Israel are thousands of miles apart, but when it comes to protecting the values we hold dear, we are side by side.
So as we celebrate our own independence, we also honor those around the world who are standing up for theirs. We celebrate the people and organizations who act on our behalf, who give, who serve, and who care.
Because freedom has no borders. And when America and Israel stand together, there is no limit to what we can overcome.
Happy Independence Day.
Am Yisrael Chai.
