From February 27 to March 15, members of the Jewish community in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro will have access to genetic testing at half price, as part of a campaign dedicated to raising awareness about rare genetic diseases.

Every year, the last day of February is marked worldwide as Rare Disease Day. In 2026, the Jewish Federation of the State of São Paulo (FISESP), the Jewish Federation of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FIERJ), and the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein are joining forces to transform this date into a moment of unity and prevention, launching the Genetic Testing Campaign in the Jewish Community.

The initiative aims to expand awareness and encourage prevention of hereditary genetic conditions, particularly among young people and couples planning to have children now or in the future. Research shows that certain rare genetic diseases are more prevalent among individuals of Jewish descent due to historical and generational factors. Against this backdrop, the campaign seeks to bring the community closer to preventive exams that can identify genetic risks and guide reproductive decisions in an informed and responsible way.

During the campaign period, participants will be able to undergo a genetic test that screens for more than 300 hereditary diseases, offered at a 50% discount. The exam will cost R$1.045,00 (Real).

Registration is done through an online form, where participants can choose a collection unit or opt for home collection.

This initiative underscores the commitment of Jewish community organizations to health, preventive education, and the well-being of future generations.
