Give It Up
VA’ESCHANAN. And I begged. Moshe tells Bnei Yisroel, I davened 515 times to enter the Land and HaShem still said No. Instead HaShem told me to go up a mountain and see what I wanted, the land of Eretz Yisroel. Sometimes we ask too much for things that just aren’t meant to be. And HaShem tells us Al Tosef daber elai al zeh. Stop talking about what you don’t have. Go up the mountain and take a look at that alternate life. You have it the best way now. “Rav lach” HaShem tells Moshe. Artscroll translates it as Its enough for you, Moshe. But Rav means “so much” not “enough“! TOO much!! You have SO MUCH GOOD in your life. Stop complaining.
Sometimes you have to stop davening a million times over while making yourself crazy, and actually enjoy the good things – ur’ei b’einacha, see with your OWN eyes! HaShem tells him that you’re not going to get this. And that’s ok. You have so much and this is the best life possible. HaShem says here (regarding mitzvos) Lo sosifu, Don’t add , v’lo sigri’u, and Don’t take away. HaShem, you gave me the perfect way of life and I love it. Thank you. I couldn’t have it any other way. We need to learn to be happy with ourselves, with our lives and all the amazing blessings we each have. Rav lach. We have SO MANY to be grateful for. Shema Yisrael (is in this week’s Parsha), Hear that HaShem is above you. See – u’rei that HaShem knows it all and gave you the best version of life you could possibly have. Feel it with all your senses!
And in this Parsha we learn the words EIN OD MILVADO. We forfeit what we think is good for ourselves and say HaShem, you know best! Like mama knows best. Father knows best! Nachamu, nachamu ami! HaShem is our pillow! We can cry to him. But the biggest part of feeling comforted with all our pains and suffering is acceptance and knowing who we can fall back on for all of this. Ein od , there’s no one like Him. Shavua tov and may HaShem fulfill all our wishes for the BEST.
