Gun Control – Stop the Madness

Once again, our hearts are ripped by mass, murder committed by a hate-filled lone wolf with a gun.  Last week scores of innocent people were murdered in seconds.

How long before we finally recognize guns are a public health menace. American society is outraged.  Can Americans learn from Israel’s experience with guns?

Israelis can not obtain guns just by showing up with a drivers’ license a smile and a credit card for a cursory electronic background check.  Americans can, in many states.  Israelis have to show cause for needing a gun, not an AR-15, but a simple revolver or Glock.

Who has a gun and how is gun possession different in Israel.  Israeli teachers, or a principal, can carry a gun in school.  Americans cringe at the thought of someone in the school authorized to carry a gun. Schools are gun-free zones. Most Americans never heard of Ma’alot.

Everyone it seems in America has a cell phone to call the cops who may arrive within five minutes.

Israelis don’t permit the mass arming of its populace.  They did permit the massive arming of Palestinian Police and Palestinian Self Defense forces in the Peace Process. Wonder how well that has worked out?…

Americans are working on Red Flag laws to prevent gun violence.  In other words, if someone looks strange, different, or behaves in ways that are fear creating to others, we can call the police.  They will pick up the weirdo for evaluation. The weirdo’s guns will be taken away before they can hurt anyone even if they have never done so yet.  A psychologist will report to a court. A Judge will issue orders sending the weirdo to a mental health unit for a later to be determined period.  They will be “helped”, “reeducated”.  Society will be safer.  What could go wrong?

We all know how good psychologists are at predicting violence.  The courts are supposedly impartial arbitrators.  Judges would never distort facts and information to arbitrarily locking innocents up.  No one talks about the Russia Collusion Hoax anymore since the Mueller report came out. When Mueller finished speaking before Congress, we were all more uncomfortable than ever he had had his finger on everything involving Trump Russia Collusion.

Time to move on to some other issue, racism still works pretty well.

American law, until recently, required public health threats to be picked up and vanish.  Lepers seeking medical care were reported to the police by their physicians. Lepers vanished without a trace, instantly. Thousands ended their days without names, only a number for a name, in semi-secret leprosariums like Carville, Louisiana.

Hansen’s disease, leprosy, was never communicable. Medical science screwed up pretty good on that one.

Guns are public health threats.  People that use guns are public health threats.  People that have guns must be public health threats.

We are still buying our dead from last week’s gun violence when another mass murder occurred in California today.  Four people were murdered and two wounded in stabbing attacks.  The monster with the knife was stopped by cops with guns.

Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London, got it right.  No Knives will be permitted. Anyone wanting a knife larger than a very dull butter knife will have to go for a background check before buying one.  They must undergo a waiting period, a cool-down period before they can have one.

Guns are public health hazards and knives are public health hazards.  A young yeshivah student was just murdered by a terrorist with a knife.  The terrorist will be stopped by the IDF, not with knives, with guns.

American Jews fearfully demand guns should be banned or even confiscated.  American Jews have not gotten to knives yet.

There is another weapon of mass murder that terrorists use even more effectively, driver licenses.  Ramming attacks, killing scores, even a hundred at a stretch as in France a few years back, are almost daily realities in Israel. We must take driver license murder seriously, confiscate their cars.

The ramming monsters are stopped by somebody with a gun.

Gun control is not gun control.  It is population control.

Jews better than anyone understand how effective gun control and gun confiscation is.  Nazi Germany did it very well.

Guns are not the problem.   The problem is the hate from within, right or left, amplified by a politicized, one-way finger-pointing media.
