If I wore a hat I would take it off in honor of the two Likud NO-signers, Gidon Sa’ar and Michal Shir.
Hopefully other courageous Likud MK’s will also refuse to sign a letter to prime-minister Netanyahu’s request for immunity from prosecution.
Under our Basic Law any Member of Knesset can receive immunity with the required 61 affirmative votes. However there has never been a law concerning immunity for a sitting prime-minister.
Without that law, Netanyahu’s only hope for immunity for his crimes can be by 61 Knesset votes, and it does not look that he will succeed in getting them quickly. Many members of Likud no longer prefer his leadership. Many Israeli citizens no longer like him. Many despise him. His legacy goes down the drain.
He requests from our president an additional fourteen days in a last ditch attempt to form a coalition government. If our wise president will continue to be wise, he should reject Netanyahu’s request.
A man should look not only to his past and certainly cannot look into his future. All that remains visible are the indictments legally made against him for bribery, fraud and breach of trust. These are the charges that Netanyahu needs to confront while three hundred and more witnesses are testifying against him.
A normal man accused of these crimes and knowing himself that he is really guilty would be wise to admit them and seek the mercy of the court. Perhaps a long prison sentence can be avoided. This, of course, applies only to a normal man.
Binyamin aka Bibi Netanyahu is not a normal man. He married Miriam and while she was pregnant with their first child he was having frequent sexual relations with Fleur, a non-Jewish British student who he met in the MIT library.
Miriam, in her wisdom, threw him out. Later, he married Fleur and she too threw him out. His first-born child, Noa, grew up not knowing her father. He did not come to the hospital to see her following her birth. He has no regular contact with her or his grandchildren who happen to live in the same city near him. (Sara sees to that.)
Are those the characteristics of a normal man? And then, he met Sara. Sex on board an ElAl flight in a bathroom. A normal man? A breach of trust against his first two wives. And now, a breach of trust upon our nation and all the citizens of our beloved nation. He has betrayed all of us and he must pay the price.
Likud members of the Knesset who still support his inappropriate and criminal behavior are guilty of not seeking to depose him and to replace him with a normal man…. an honest man… one who places the nation first above his personal ego.
Sadly… very sadly… I am not convinced that our citizens really care. There have been protests pro and con but the turn-out of the con protestors have been lacking in numbers.
One of my neighbors remarked to me “what does it matter? One crook goes and another crook comes. The Likud members in the Knesset close their eyes to the crimes of their leader in order that they may retain their seats in our parliament. They are no better than their leader. They put their selfish wishes first against their concerns for the public”.
Strong words, true or not. “One crook goes and another crook comes” is not true at all, in my opinion.
We have been blessed as a nation to be governed by honorable men and a woman who gave their lives to the well-being of our citizens… of all our citizens.
Since our independence in 1948 and the many tragic wars which followed, not one head of state ever made racist remarks in the Knesset against our twenty-percent non-Jewish minorities. On the contrary, they were treated with dignity and respect…………………..until the Netanyahu era !
I am buying a hat so that I can take it off in honor of the courageous Likud NO signers. Hail to them !
Ken yirbu. May there be many other brave and honest followers. We owe Netanyahu nothing.
Our loyalty and devotion is reserved for our people, our citizens. It is time for Netanyahu to go !
Permanently. Never to return to politics.
