The Horror of Hamas towards their own

Even Hamas’s Cruelty to Its Own People Doesn’t Scare “Pro-Palestinians”

Scrolling through social media, I came across one of the most disturbing videos I’ve ever seen. A man in Gaza was brutally tortured in public, first, 2 “uninvolved “civilians” dropped concrete blocks on his legs as he screamed in agony. Then his arms were shattered with a wooden pole. The sound of bones breaking will haunt me for a long time.

And yet, this isn’t the first time. Nor is it unusual in Hamas-ruled Gaza.

What is shocking is not just the act itself, but the global silence. Instead of outrage, I see masked protesters on campuses, in the streets, online, defending these very people. It is as if cruelty committed by Hamas, even against their own civilians, doesn’t register if it doesn’t serve the anti-Israel narrative.

Let’s look at facts.

Hamas’s Documented Cruelty Against Palestinians

Hamas, the de facto ruler of Gaza since 2007, has a long track record of brutality, not just against Israelis, but against fellow Palestinians:

  • 2007 Gaza Takeover: During its violent coup against Fatah, Hamas threw opponents off rooftops and dragged bodies through the streets.
  • Suppression of Dissent: According to Human Rights Watch (2019), Hamas regularly detains, tortures, and even executes journalists, critics, and anyone suspected of “collaboration.”
  • Use of Human Shields: Hamas embeds rocket launchers in schools, hospitals, and civilian homes, placing their own people directly in harm’s way.
  • Child Soldiers: Children are recruited into “summer camps” where they are indoctrinated with hatred and taught to use weapons.

This is not governance, it’s tyranny.

Israel’s Moral Compass Amid War

Despite being under constant attack; thousands of rockets fired at civilians, Israel continues to act under the rules of international law. Consider:

  • Warning Civilians: Israel uses leaflets, phone calls, and “roof knocking” to warn civilians before targeting terrorist infrastructure, unprecedented in modern warfare.
  • Field Hospitals & Aid: Israel has set up field hospitals for Gazans, allowed fuel and humanitarian aid to flow in, and even treated Gaza civilians in Israeli hospitals.
  • Arab-Israelis in Government: Far from being an apartheid state, Israel includes Arab parties in its parliament, has Arab Supreme Court justices, and grants full citizenship rights to its minorities.

Even during the October 7th massacre, when Hamas slaughtered babies, raped women, and kidnapped elderly civilians, Israel responded with restraint compared to what any other nation might have done under similar trauma.

What Kind of World Are We Becoming?

It is one thing to criticize a government, every democracy is open to debate. But to glorify a terrorist group that rapes, murders, and brutalizes even its own people, while demonizing the one Jewish state trying to survive, is moral inversion of the highest order.

This isn’t just about Israel. This is about us.

Wake Up Before It’s Too Late

We must elect leaders who stand against Islamist extremism, not just for Israel’s sake, but for the survival of liberal democracies everywhere. This is not racism. This is not hate. This is self-preservation.

Israel is not just defending its people. It is fighting our fight too.

Another example of the attitude of the “palestinians” : The moment Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, now eliminated, reacted to the death of his children, which speaks also volumes. There was a total lack of grief. They glorify death, while Israel celebrates life.

If we ignore the suffering Hamas causes to its own people, how can we claim to care about justice or human rights?

About the Author
CEO of Time to Stand Up for Israel, a nonprofit organization with a powerful mission: to support Israel and amplify its voice around the world. With over 200,000 followers across various social media platforms, our community is united by a shared love for Israel and a deep commitment to her future. My journey as an advocate for Israel began early. When I was 11 years old, my father was deployed to the Middle East through his work with UNTSO. I had the unique experience of living in both Syria and Israel, and from a young age, I witnessed firsthand the contrast in cultures and realities. That experience shaped me profoundly. Returning to the Netherlands, I quickly became aware of the growing wave of anti-Israel sentiment — and I knew I had to speak out. Ever since, I’ve been a fierce and unapologetic supporter of Israel. I’m not religious, but my belief is clear and unwavering: Israel has the right to exist, and Israel has the duty to defend herself. My passion is rooted in truth, love, and justice. I’m a true Zionist at heart. From my first breath to my last, I will stand up for Israel.
