Happy Hanukkah : The Gematria of Hanukkah

Welcome back to my blog on gematria, the Merkabah and the birth of the Alephbet.
Have you ever wondered about the Hanukkah acronym?
ח נרות והלכה כבית הלל
“Eight candles, and the halakha is like the House of Hillel”
Hillel is 65. So how does the Halakha of lighting the eight candles relate to Hillel? Well – if you light one candle on the first day, and two on the second etc. until you light eight on the eighth day you will have lit 36 candles.
36 x YHVH = 936
Now look what happens when we add up 36 instances of the word ‘candle’:
נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות נרות = 9360
It is 936 x 10, or 936 ‘magnified’. And there are 144 letters there.
9360 / 144 = 65
9360 / 144 = 65
65 is (Samekh + Heh) which is the path/gate of the Shekinah on the Seven Palaces; the path that brings all bounty and blessings to the world. Isn’t that nice?
For extras: check out the values of 9000 and also 360 on the Shematria gematria calculator.
Have a wonderful & happy eight days, everyone! And stay tuned for more numerical honey!
