Heaven, hell, and pocket dimensions
Heaven and hell are most likely located in a pocket dimension. The pocket dimension is a self-contained construct created for a specific purpose. It’s an artificially created (by God, most likely) dimension that exists with a specific purpose in mind and accessible only by individuals, souls if you prefer, who are aware of its existence and can locate it. There’s likely some kind of mechanism to ensure only the ones who deserve to be either in heaven or in hell can access each pocket dimension or be dragged into one.
Rumors of mysterious disappearances (I’m talking about cases where puzzled law enforcement officials can’t come up with a working theory – someone vanishes from a bar or an apartment, there was even a case of a car driver who said that his passenger opened the door, jumped out of the car, and ran into a corn field, never to be seen again) defying explanation could well be true and some people might have ended up in some kind of other dimension. What takes them, snatches them, abducts them to these pocket dimensions? Folklore around the world talks about all sorts of spirits and fairies (that aren’t cute little things at all) abducting humans to be servants or for far more nefarious purposes.
Apparently, people of German heritage and high intellect tend to vanish a lot. Karma? Accident? Your guess is as good as mine.
There are those who can’t accept such ideas. It goes against their beliefs about how the world works. They voice their anger at such notions being entertained. We need to step into the shoes of these people. Many are convinced it’s their duty to save the souls of others who offend God by straying off the righteous path and bringing up such topics. Let’s not be too judgmental. If people are convinced it’s incumbent upon them to save souls, wish them well, because you’re not going to change their mind. Maybe in some really, really rare cases.
Arguing with them is pointless because it’s only going to reinforce their belief that you need saving, as you’ve committed a thought-crime against God. Indeed, they are saving souls not only out of sheer self-sacrifice – by saving souls, and doing so as their belief dictates, they are counting on their own salvation from hell. They don’t have a belief; rather, a belief has them.
Moments that ought to bring joy, such as weddings, might turn into perfunctory ceremonies in order to adhere to a given group’s beliefs and social standards.
With that in mind, you see these people differently. Besides, I’m sure Hashem sees and values their efforts, as misguided as they might be.
Now, what might the pocket dimension of hell look like? When I picture hell, it’s likely some form of a cosmic panopticon prison, where the damned souls are subjected to all sorts of creative torment at all times. Hebrew Hell, for example, would be a subset of hell aimed specifically at Israel’s enemies. The aim of Hebrew Hell would likely be the forceful reformation of identity of Israel’s enemies. Obviously, that enforced reformation would encounter a lot of resistance, particularly from genius minds, but if indeed there’s no time limit, then even the staunchest, smartest and most dangerous enemies of Israel are going to be reformed, eventually, as hell delivers the coup de grâce to their rebellious, anti-Israel, identity. Some say hell is repetition, but hell is also false hope, where one is fooled into believing one has escaped the divine punishment, only to be dragged back into hell again.
The demonic dance floor, again, when one thought one had escaped. What can be worse than that?
Eternal punishment that never changes results in habituation, and getting used to hell defeats the purpose of hell, so the demons must be creative in constantly coming up with new ways to surprise the damned souls with new tortures, such as mock weddings with a demonically distorted Wedding March playing in the background.
After all, it’s said that in hell, in particular, one’s senses are even more acute. It also makes sense that hell is a sort of reversal of roles, so when one had authority and used abusive language, then in hell one’s speech patterns might be reformed to be that of a debutante with any temptation to use bad words and bad behavior drilled out of her.
Now, let’s look at the pocket dimension of heaven and eternal bliss.
In one TV show, eternal heaven resulted in the degeneration of the saved, because there was nothing else for them to do, they couldn’t find joy anymore, and so they walked through a portal to oblivion. Heaven was turning into hell for them.
I know, religious scholars are going to argue that heaven is pure bliss and that bliss never ends. At the same time, we’re often told to look at the afterlife through the prism of human senses. Either the afterlife has nothing to do with our human senses, thereby our theorizing about the afterlife is pointless (one priest said we’re going to communicate telepathically in the afterlife, like wireless) or we accept there’s the human factor involved and these concerns about losing joy in heaven after, say, a century – are valid.
There’s likely some kind of divine component which deals with these issues on the other side. The divine component only known to those on the other side of the veil.
