Here is a story about shoes

There are many shoes out there. Different sizes, different styles, for different occasions and for different purposes. 

After spending quite a lot of time in Israel, simply getting older, and realizing the importance of a great pair of shoes, I have come to understand which shoes most Israelis prefer.

Blundstones. Sure, you might argue that the durable and stylish Redbacks are in for a shout too. 

But when it comes down to it, the Australian company founded in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, in the 1850s, Blundstone, is still the number one choice in Israel.

Why is that so, one might ask? Do they look good? Yes. Are they comfortable? You bet they are. Are they durable? Absolutely. Are they good value for money? Most definitely.  

But perhaps more importantly, it paints a picture of what it means to be Israeli. Most of us are familiar with the Sabra story. If you are not, sabra is a cactus fruit that is often used to describe an Israeli person. Hard and spiky on the outside but soft and sweet on the inside.

The Blundstone shoes have a similar feel. Sturdy, hard to break down, and rugged on the outside. While at the same time being very comfortable and soft on the inside.

And perhaps that is why Blundstones have become so popular in Israel. They reflect something deeper than fashion or practicality. Like the sabra, they are robust, resilient, and built to endure. Yet beneath the tough exterior lies comfort, warmth, and character.

See the similarities? If not, I would advise you to travel to Israel to see for yourself. And while immersing yourself in Israeli culture and spending time with Israelis, you might just find yourself leaving with a pair of Blundstones as well.
