Hostage History Unfiltered

Creative Commons

It seems that everybody has everything to say about the unfolding drama and potential exhilaration regarding the hostages.

There is a phenomenon called Taylor Swift Amnesia where apparently thousands of people who were physically present can’t remember the experience.

There are explanations for this, and I’ve got my own theory; it’s because although they were at the concert live and in person, they watched the whole thing through their phones and not with their own eyes.

We will be living through hostage history over the coming hours and days, and I want to experience this unfiltered. So, to all of you who are analyzing, predicting, bemoaning, and celebrating: Thank you for your exuberance, thank you for your anxiety, thank you for your prayers, but after two years – no, make that after 2,000 years – I’ve got my own.

I want to feel my emotions, not yours. I want to live my feelings, not yours. I appreciate you, but for now, please take a break and let this be our experience, not yours.
