Houthis? Dagestan? Why do people who never met a Jew hate Jews so much?
This week, I had to google who the Houthis are and why they fired missiles at Israeli civilians. It never crossed my mind that an Islamist political and armed organization from Yemen would attack Israel. This week I learned that the Houthis official slogan says the following: “God is the greatest; death to America; death to Israel; curse the Jews; victory to Islam.
This week, I also had to google the Republic of Dagestan. I’ve heard very little about Dagestan’s capital city – Makhachkala, until earlier this week, when a mob of hundreds stormed the local airport chanting – ‘Kill the Jews.’ A video posted on social media showed a mob rampaging through the terminal, asking staff where the “Jews” were. Rioters stopped a bus carrying passengers and asked every person if they were Muslim or Jewish. This week I learned that many Muslims in Dagestan hate the Jews so much that they were looking to slaughter random Jewish passengers.
This week we also witnessed Hundreds of thousands of people gather in rallies all across the world chanting – ‘From the River to the Sea – Palestine should be free.’
Free of what? Free of Jews.
From all across the world, from the left and the right, religious and secular, Muslims, Christians, and self-hating Jews – all come together. United for one reason – to fight Israel.
What are all these people fighting for?
One of the most fascinating things about antisemitism is that it brings together the most vicious enemies.
Neo-Nazi Nationalists join leftist globalists. Shia Muslims join Sunni Muslims. LGBTQ+ activists join fundamental Islamists.
Why do all these people hate Israel so much?
It seems to me that the Jews can never escape this reality of being hated.
For thousands of years, Jews were persecuted and murdered for being ‘different’ and ‘weak.’
After Jews received human rights and gradually became more successful, they were hated for being ‘powerful’ and ‘rich.’
Before the Jews had the State of Israel – the world allowed the Germans and their allies all across Europe and the Arab world to murder 6 million Jews. And now that the Jews have their own tiny little country – surrounded by enemies – Israel is ridiculously charged with being the aggressor.
This may be the greatest lie of our generation.
Zooming in and drawing a map of Israel and the Palestinian Territories, yet purposely not zooming out and seeing the big picture of tiny Israel surrounded by enemies.
If the leaders of the so-called pro-Palestinian coalition had invested a fraction of their energy and funds in the Palestinian people, the situation would have been very different.
Palestinians and Israelis could have built a beautiful future together, and the Middle East could have become a region of hope and prosperity.
However, it is now clear that the only goal that the so-called pro-Palestinian coalition has is the destruction of the Jewish People and the State of Israel.
It’s tragic to witness many decent people who can’t see through these lies and still believe that Israel is the problem. It’s even more tragic because many of these people are going to be next in line and suffer from the radical movements that they currently support.
Although these past few weeks have made it extremely hard to be optimistic, I still want to believe that the majority of the Palestinian people and the majority of the people who support their cause – do want to build a better future for all people in the region. I wish that the moderate people would have the courage to speak up and fight the extremists within.
