Using the Divine Light in your Soul
The intermediate person (Beinoni)
who is not serving HaShem
does not need to utilize the
divine light in his G-dly soul.
The divine light in your soul allows you to rule
over your heart (physical/emotional desires).
When you are not serving HaShem
and not contemplating His greatness
so that you become infused with
knowledge and fear of Him
you are not fulfilling the purpose
you are created for.
Note: Not serving HaShem does not mean
you are not religious.
However, you still are not violating the
negative commandments of the Torah.
This particular level of divine service does not require awakening
your love of HaShem through contemplation.
This love hidden in the heart of every Jew
motivates you to fulfill the commandments
and study Torah.
This love is our inheritance from the patriarchs Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
With this love you will not rebel against HaShem.
Reaching higher levels requires using
the divine light of your G-dly soul
that resides in your brain.
Breaking your spiritual habits requires you
to arouse your love of G-d by
deeply contemplating His greatness.
This divine light allows you to rule
over your heart (physical/emotional desires)
mastering your nature
and overcoming your
physical/animalistic tendencies.
This is done by contemplating the greatness of HaShem.
This power of love
enables you to transcend
your ordinary limitations.
This is known as the service of the Beinoni.
This week’s series is based on a lecture by
Rabbi Mordechai Finkelman on the Tanya.

natural tendencies and come closer to HaShem?
