How Does a General Strike Help Anything?

I am an avid reader of the Times of Israel and I feel the pain that everyone else in Israel felt when we read about the death of the six hostages this morning, and especially Hersh Goldberg-Polin who has been such a public symbol.

Something I cannot understand is the reaction to their deaths by the protesters and especially the Histadrut (General Organization of Workers in Israel). How does a general strike in Israel help anything?

Please explain this logic to me. Six innocent Jews are murdered by Hamas therefore let’s shut down the country.

Even if there was going to be a hostage deal it would not have included the six hostages that were murdered. They may never have been included in any deal, ever. And what about the innocent people that will be murdered by the terrorists released from Israeli prisons in order to free the small number of old and sick hostages that Hamas is willing to negotiate over?

I’m not a fan of Bibi, but there’s no deal for him to take. How will a general strike make a deal appear out of thin air? How will a general strike unite the people of Israel and help us defeat our enemies?

The protesters have tried for years to get Bibi out of power. They have failed and continue to fail. They were willing to go so far as to stop showing up to reserve duty so that when October 7th was allowed to happen, they were not prepared to fight back.

We all feel the pain of the hostage families, but when you mix anti-Bibi protesters with hostage families you create a situation where people actually believe that Bibi murdered the hostages and not Hamas.

This small group of protesters should be ignored. If they block traffic or destroy public or private property they should be arrested and fined.

The only thing that comes out of their noise is to convince Hamas that time is on their hands. How is it that they blame Bibi for the lack of a deal with Hamas when really they should be looking in the mirror?
